Went to the Atlanta NNL, and I had a decent time. I do miss the vibe of the West Coast ones... and the assortment of used parts. I'm not going to go into detail, but I work car shows all over the US and I find the modeling scene of the Southeast mimics the full-sized show car attitude. It's a bit different for me... it's not bad, just different. But the workmanship was outstanding, most people did a heck of a job on their stuff and I was blown away by some of the ideas. I kept my stuff in the "Commercial" themed table, and it's safe to say I am the only "show rodder" in the area. I saw a *few* show rods, but I'm in the minority for sure. I miss my West Coast crew... And so I'm putting my other builds on the table and a few guys are looking over my stuff. One guy couldn't understand why I put "HEMI" decals on the hood of my hot rodded Boss Rig, (It has a S'cool Bus engine) because it was a Chevrolet... So, a guy looking over my Show Plow said to his buddy that it was "interesting" but "the plow wouldn't be very effective." Hahaha... I dunno. The Alabama NNL in March has a "Show Car" theme.... I should unload a pile on that one.

Some people get so lost in the realm of reality that they forget this is a hobby. It's suppose to be fun, and it does not have to be functional. I been waiting to hear someone at a show say my build would not work, or its wired wrong. I'd just say,Well dude, let's walk down and turn the key on yours... Bet it don't run any better than mine!

I never get mad... You know what is neat, is that I can totally see somebody really getting into super detailing an engine, or scratch building brake rotors (I know Flounder here is a fabrication nut..) or really trying to get a subject as close to the photo or real thing. ( There was a Mini Cooper that almost ran today.. it was impressive.) I've always gotten all that stuff. But those guys can't seem to break out and enjoy the joy we get from just creating something different. There is the technical side of modeling, and the creative side. There's always been room for both.. It's just interesting to hear the comments of the logical half. My mind runs through brain farts and I just try and capture them and make them in 3D. I don't have time or desire to wire things or make working steering. That's for the rest of you guys. Of course the show plow isn't going to be effective. It' s not supposed to be plowing anything other than Autorama trophies if it was real.. I will add that given enough money, everything I build could function... If I was Bill Gates, there'd be a ton of crazy cars out there.

I miss having you on the Left Coast, Brandon. There may be a few more guys who "get it" out here, but there aren't that many, and I always enjoyed comparing our bagged parts/kits hauls at NNL West. Seemed like if I missed seeing something, you found it, and vice-versa.

Yeah I did make it to the Southern NNL and had a GREAT TIME, got a BUNCH of good deals(which I'll post a picture later today) and even thou I didn't get to meet our very own Klown Brandon, I di however get to have the pleaseure of meeting Mr. Gary "BADSEED" and talk with him for a little while, VERY NICE Guy and was glad to put a face with a name. ;D I also took a few pictures, I really LIKED the Ed Roth Tribute Garage and the '53 Custom Ford had a paintjob out of this world, which I did meet the guy who built it and a few others,he explained how he painted it to me and a few others, SO now I have an idea for another future project It was a really nice day to dirve up to Atlanta and the wife enjoyed it as well and spent only $140.00 but I got 11 kits for $5.00 a pop and also talked with Jimmy Flintstone for a bit and talked with both Becky & Gene from Slixx as well, OVERALL it was a GREAT SHOW and worth the effort to attend,NEXT YEAR I will have a few models ready as my wife put it,and hopefully I'll see Brandon at The Birmingham Classic and like he said the THEME is SHOWORDS, SO CALLING ALL KLOWNS try to make this show Now to a few pictures.....................Chief

Man, I wished you would have stopped me. I even remembered to wear my Goodguys shirt this year. The '57 Vette kit is one of my childhood favorites. LOVED that one. I bought an opened one on eBay once, but it ended up having a huge glue stain on the body right across the side cove.... heck of a score at $5.
