WATCH OUT!!! I won the Flameout, and Lil Yeller a few days ago and I e-mailed and asked him to put them in ziploc bags before shipping so we wouldn't loose any parts. he said he already did, I got them in the mail today and they were both junk. laying loose (not in bags) with trash crammed around them for support. they both were totally smashed and parts were strewn all in amongst the bags, plastic, popped bubblewrap, and even a padded envelope. the Flameout was broken into two pieces and the front axle was snapped in half. both cars have so much glue and paint globbed on them that I'm not sure they are even salvageable. I was planning on bidding on a few more, but not now. I will try and post pics soon.

I really cant believe some kid had all these grails ! He must have had some rich parents and nothing else to do. I mean I built kits quickly when I was a kid and it showed, but after I built one I was off doing other stuff kids used to do back then -play games ,ride bikes, go sledding, hiking , etc. And I know my parents wouldn't be buying me a model a week .It would be kind of interesting to know the history of these kits.

Even though the stuff has been glue and paint bombed it is still rare. I personally feel that the stuff he is posting now isn't as bad as earlier this week.

Valid point for sure.. everyone has a limit in mind when it comes to buildups and dis-assembly .. My limit isn't so much money but time involved .. there comes a point when hassling with stripping and cleaning up glue melt areas is just too time consuming.. now don't take this message in the wrong manner .. I like a good buildup that I can do something with but when it's not packed properly, and it's "welded" together" and needs stripped it almost comes to a point of being too time costly regardless of its rarity.. I'd rather spend the extra for an unbuilt and enjoy the build .. I have saved many a build up in my day and it is indeed a challenge .. but the kit of interest must be re-buildable and NOT a basket case like Lou received in a million pieces .. what a bummer ...

if he decides not to do anything about it, I will still rebuild these models, they will just take a little more work especially since they were put together wrong in the first place. I may buy another Depth Charger, and use all the new chassis parts to rebuild the Flameout. the Lil Yeller will be a challenge too, I think that whoever had these cars was using super glue to do repairs when parts fell off. there are blobs of really hard glue smeared on the body and then brush painted over

Examples like these are one of the reasons why I rarely bother with buildups, they're usually so bad it isn't worth all the effort. The One-Arm Bandits I combined and restored was a rare case for me. Thankfully, between the two most of the parts were usable; but either one by themselves I probably would have just thrown away. Generally I'll buy a built kit just to get certain wheels, tires, or other parts for kitbashing.

FYI- I just sent him a message through eBay and I'm awaiting a reply :
Hello - Do you take extra care when packing these buildups for shipping ? .. I have 2 of my friends who have purchased from your auctions and they have shown up busted in pieces laying loose in the box.. I want to buy (bid) on 4 of your auctions but not if they are not packed carefully .. please let me know how you intend on packing these .. thanks , Chuck

FYI, he emailed back and apologized, then said he appreciated the feedback on packaging. he said he will fix the problem from now on. he said he wants to make it right. I think you should look closely at the pics to see if you think the models are worth saving or not. I'm gonna try, but they seem to have super glue or something on them in spots and are almost impossible to get apart without breaking

latest reply:: and I appreciate the advice and I'm attempting to package better..however to this point I've heard from one individual with issues and I offered them a refund. I appreciate the items as much as you all and I have no desire to see them damaged..so thanks again and I'll heed your advice.

WTF? Is that a deflated beachball in two of those pics? HA HA!! no, thats a bag from a grocery store, and there is still chunks of rotten fruit in the bottom of the bag. that's what was packed around the cars in the box.
