I just posted pics of my latest project over on a sci-fi forum, and then I thought you guys might like to see it, too. It's a Land Ironclad, built by the French after their humiliating defeat in the Franco-Prussian War. As we all know, the French are among the foremost engineers on the planet , and it seemed to me that (in some alternate universe) they wouldn't take their licking lying down. Enough yakking; here are some pictures: Just after the beginning of the Second Franco-Prussian War in 1877, a Gallic juggernaut advances, ready to avenge the loss of Alsace-Lorraine: Two crewmen ready a Gatling for use: The Prussian cuirassiers flee in disarray: French infantry wait to disembark: Congreve rocket projectors stand ready: A few other pics in the album: s193.photobucket.com/albums/z256/hilbyf/Land%20ironclad/A couple construction notes: The Ironclad is 1/350 scale. I was able to use commercially available ship railings, doors, and infantry, but no such luck with cuirassiers. I photoetched the cavalry and their horses, the spreader stars for the smokestack brace, the pilothouse shutters, and the Gatling gun shields myself using MicroMark's kit; man, that was a learning experience The horses are about the size of small houseflies. The base is some nice 3/4 plywood, finished with Deft, a quick-drying and forgiving varnish. The groundwork is drywall mud, applied in thin layers to avoid cracking. The Ironclad is painted in enamels, with oil and pastel weathering; the base and figures are done in oils.

Very well done and a great imagination too.
The attack of the giant tank.....I don't think those horse soldiers stand a chance.

Thanks for all the nice comments! The project took about three months or so. My completion rate on models is pretty low
