My 7 year olds creation , the light blue # 99 . He is a car nut, so it had to look like a race car . Unlike a few cars in the pic, he did most of the work himself with the exception of the cutting out of the body , the clearcoat , and the decals . We tried to build it as close to his last years 3rd place overall winner , and he ended up taking second place overall ! Of course he got his tail kicked at the regionals, but we had fun anyway

Nice looking car! we had our pinewood derby 2 weeks ago. My son jackson has come in 1st place for the past 2 years, but this year, he only got 4th place. They changed the rules up on us a little this year by not allowing us to put graphite on the axles between each race. Last year and the year before, we could apply graphite in between each race, but this year they said that we could only apply graphite one time before the races started. his car slowed down towards the end of the races, but 4th out of 25 isn't too bad. He really wanted to get another 1st place to make it 3 in a row, but like everyone knows, there's always a faster car out there and you can't win every time. here's the car he and I made this year. The body shape is simple but this is how he wanted it. the "jet engine" is from a plastic toy helicopter. I usually build a car for the adult race, but i didn't get around to building one this year. We put a red flashing l.e.d. light in the jet exhaust that I made out of a chrome model car wheel back. the l.e.d. is motion activated and it flashes when the car rolls. This is to simulate the jet engine exhaust afterburner....lol. here's my son jacksons 1st place winner from 2010 here's the car i built for the adult race in 2010, which took first place and won the best looking car award. Here's jacksons 2009 1st place winner Here's the car i built for the 2009 adult race. this one took 1st place as well. (the wheels aren't on it in yet in the pic.)

The winner of the local PWD & going to Scout-O-rama is the roadster in the front of the pic. Peoples Choice for the second year in a row by the same child builder was the Aircarft Carrier Car! How much fun is this??? ;D ;D ;D "Paulie"
