As I dunked the latest victim of my parts stash into the great purple lake, I pondered the out come of this rare and old kit.
She's a beaut, a 42' Cris Craft Flying Bridge yacht.... gonna get crossed with parts from a Johan funny car and the side coves from a Mysterion.... I looked over the brittle instruction sheet and laughed. As I rinsed the last bit of brushed on white enamel from the hull the brown and black marbled plastic sparkled like it was just plucked from the molds... I wondered what eager freckle-faced kid glued the roof on crooked with a tube of now outlawed model cement, and as I peered in through the cabin windows I saw "Revell Venice, CA Copyright 1955" This will be by far the oldest model that I have sliced and diced. I thought about the boat's whereabouts for the last FIFTY-plus years, stashed in boxes, wondered who finally stuffed it in a tattered freezer baggie, and sold to me by a nautical enthusiast with a table full of ships at the NNL West.... "that's a nice old boat kit" he beamed proudly, "It'll clean up nice for a restoration..." "Oh yeah, " I nodded, looking down at it through the baggie and over to the huge Halibrand-equipped slicks in my other hand that I just picked up for a dollar.... the wheels already spinning..... Muwhahahaha...
The instructions also say 1955... When DID Revell start?

Brandon, you should be required the carry and present on request photos of your previous sacrileges. Then, the vendor could decide whether to allow you to take his "little treasure" home.(LOL) After the "Pink Panther", I wonder what fate awaits that boat. I think that kit was reissued mid- 90's sometime. Outside of early50's I don't recall when Revell was started. But, I think it was a few years (2-3) before '55.(?)
(Please don't do a "Jolly Rodger" thingy.)

I don't remember that one. Must have been before my time here. Every time an "Ivo" is on ebay I really want to get it. Love nostalgia V8"s. 4in one kit with 4 slicks! The Mono "Bathtub or the other? Mono kit would be astounding with an Allison in the tub!!!

And...... put it on a rear engined rail frame.

I'll see if I can dig up a shot of the Rum Runner... I jammed the Ivo car to the Jolly Roger kit and made a four engined boot leg runner... I also stuck the Ivo car on a American Graffitti coupe to make the "Fastest Car in the Valley" but it's stalled at the headers.... you have to make each one with flages and individual pipes for FOUR engines... everytime I get about half way through one of the Ivo kits I start thinking "What the heck was I thinking???" lol.... but one engine is never enough...

I know about those headers! Got 2 kits: 1-Ivo and other with '66 Riviera body (need to scratch build Vista Cruiser SW roof. I should not have thought about the tub with an Allison as RE digger. I have already laid it out in my head. Finish it out with scrubbing bubbles as sponser logos. I'm warped. What can I say?Of course, you could be more warped than I. That or you have a more eclectic parts box!
Think the1:1 Riv was called the "Wagon Master". (?)
