If you are entering the model contest, there is a $20 entry fee for KKOA Members or $30 for non-members (but that includes free gate passes for you and two others for any or all of the 4 days of the Leadsled Spectacular).
There will be around 1500 Kustoms, Showrods, and Traditional Hot Rods sitting on the grounds for eye-candy, Kustomizer Meet and Greets with Joe Bailon, Bill Hines, Gene Winfield, Darryl Starbird, George Barris, Fritz Schenck, Chuck Miller, Mark Moriarity, and John D'Agostino (and others). From Hollywood this year is Peter Brown - Deputy John McKay from the 60's TV Series "The Lawman". Dennis Gage will be there in person with his TV crew filming an episode of "My Classic Car" for the Speed Channel. (I am hoping to get a "little air time" for the KC Slammers!!! - Wouldn't that be kool???)
Add to all that... "Run Whatcha Brung Drag Races" at the old airstrip on Friday evening, a killer 2nd Annual Pin-Up Beauty Contest on Saturday (Yummm!), 5 live stage bands crankin' out Rockabilly and Oldies, a pin-striping panel jam and auction, "The Gathering of Mercurys" - a monster collection of classic Mercury autos organized by the guys and gals of the H.A.M.B., and THIS YEAR, bring along that bicycle - (pedal powered or motor driven) - Phat Tired, Tri-Wheeler, Oldies, Kustom-Built, Restored - and cruise the park grounds or even enter it into the "Bicycle Spoketacular" for prizes and awards.
Let's see... what else? ... Oh yeah!... car parts vendors out the wazoo, t-shirts, Big Daddy Roth and Moon Eyes (and others) Stuff, food and drink vendors all over the place, clean bathrooms, cackle-fests for the dragsters, and a couple of thousand of like-minded car nuts just like you.
It'll be hot so dress cool, but there are plenty of shade trees. The park roads are all concrete-paved with curbing so there's NO DIRT flying around. Bring yer own chairs and we'll have the KC Slammers' 10x20 pop-up set up for Slammers' and friends' comfort. We always have a couple of cold coolers of ice for pop and water (donations appreciated). We are flat-out settin' up camp this year!!! And... don't forget your cameras!
IN SHORT, IT IS HOT ROD ROCK AND ROLL HEAVEN. BE THERE OR BE SQUARE, KOOL SLAMMER KATS AND KITTENS!
