That first one isn't really a conversion; it's a Terraplane pickup built by the factory. Handsome devil, isn't it? There was also a very very lovely pickup built by Hudson in 1946-1947. Of course, I'm prejudiced; I used to own one:

When i was in high school i went to the college for an auto shop program every day. it was basically a vocational school and i went there for 3 hours a day 5 days a week. anyway, my junior year, we as a class turned a 1970 cadillac coupe deville into an el camino. my class did the mechanical work (engine, trans, rearend, brakes, and electrical), the body shop did the conversion to the body, the body work and paint, and the home economics class did the interior. it was a year long project but man was it fun it had a 500 cubic inch caddy engine in it that we re-built stock, but we detailed it all out. the car was painted black and it looked like it came from the factory as an el camino....it was done that well.
