Looks promising! The rocker panel flares seem to go very well with the lines.

My original plan for this model was to build it into a van. Here is a mock-up using cardboard to get a rough idea if it would be a go or no. I do like it as a van, but it sure looks great as a pick-up. Decisions, decisions, what to do. Here it is with the back of the camper top hacked out and some round stock cut for the curves of the roof edges. It's not really noticeable, I took a 1/4 inch out of the body behind the rear wheelwells. There was to much hanging of the back for my liking. If it does make it as a van, I think it's gonna need a V8 of some sort with a set of injectors through the roof ala Boothill Express.

A little more work. The sides are roughed in, now for the actual roof. My original plan was to use a roof from a van and graft it in place. I think if the dimensions are good, I would like to use the sunroof from a Street Fighter.

I had the day off, so between doing some yard work I got some more progress on the roof. If the SF sunroof will fit, I think it'll be pretty cool looking. Also the mailman delivered some new wheels and tires for it.

With the roof a different color than the body, I could not see it as a van, I only saw a pickup with a cap. Now with it all primed I can see the van. Unfortunately, the sides of the roof I made must have shrunk and pulled in a bit. I do have a fix for this. The problem is, do I like it better as a van or a pickup. What do you think?

Love the chassis, would be a shame to cover it up,
fit tubs over the tyres, pickup with detachable van roof~cover perhaps?? so you can see the chassis detail.....
Col.
Reminds me of the Deora II, {or the Deora morphing into it}

Thanks guys. You helped me make the decision, and a good one it was.
It's no longer a pickup, we are beyond going back now.
I'm very pleased with how it's looking. Pics later.

After I cut the side door out, I realized the roof warped from the heat of the filler curing outside in this heat. I had it straight from the outside, but there was over an 1/8" of filler. this made the roof from the inside look like it was sagging pretty badly. I cut the center section of the roof out. While I had it out, I thought I should do the interior. I have to admit, once I had everything cut apart, I had no idea if I got in over my head and I had lost all direction of where I was going to go from here. I just kept tinkering and eventually things got back on track. The inside walls mount to braces similar to what is in a real van. I also redid the rear frame section (I really need to start measuring things!) trans & motor mounts, and made some wheel tubs.. Wouldn't you know it, the Street fighter I won on ebay, is a version without the big rear sunroof. Well, here's some more pics. What's left of the stock interior.

First I must apologize for the lousy pictures, the LCD screen on my camera is damaged, making it hard to get a decent shot. A little more progress. I made a set of airbags out of 8 pushpins (These things are proving useful!)' along with a set of mounting plates. I started to fill the notch in the front rollpan, I also had to put a "step" in the front of the frame/floorpan piece to allow the frame to tuck up in the body. The front suspension is from a Silhoutte, I made spindles and a tie rod to allow for a steerable front end. Yeah, I know, I forgot to fill the seam in the trans and pan. It looks like I'll be repainting them. The motor is coming along, I canned my original intake for a new one, reworked the header a bit to clear the alternator. A coil was made along with some simple wiring. The cone filter was also made from a pushpin.

that is sweet, and I agree that chassis is too nice to hide, a funny car flip style would be neat to show off the chassis work, I have had that kit 3 times and I never built it, I have an evil idea brewing thanks to this ^_^
