Too high? Too low? I thought it was about mid-range on price.

Well, i can go to hobby lobby right now and buy one for $80.00, and there's no shipping involved. But, maybe not everyone can run to hobby lobby and get one.

You're absolutely correct. Exactly what I did. I bought it at Hobby Lobby for $80, paid tax, and it was mine. Now with EBay and Paypal fees, I'll be happy if I realize $65 inthe end. Unlike Hobby Lobby, I don't have the same buying power they do. I would rather take what I can get and spend it on something else. So, you are right. But, not everyone has a hobby shop or Hobby Lobby to buy from.

you're exactly right and i didn't really think of it that way. I didn't think of the e-bay/paypal fees. so, i think you're right on the money now that you made me understand everything.

I figured I would lose some, but I didn't want to pay someone to take it off my hands. LOL

What a great auction! The '32 Ford Big Deuce sold for $88.79!! That's great until you break it down. On sale at 30% off I bought it at Hobby Lobby for $70 plus 8.25. % tax. My EBay listing fees, final value fees, and Pay pal fees were $12.39. I am still $6.40 to the good if I don't count the taxes I paid on the initial purchase. I charged what I thought would be an appropriate amount for shipping-$15. Actual shipping UPS Ground was $21.71. So, I lost a few pennies. I also scrounged up a large cardboard box from a furniture store and cut it down to make the shipping box. So, all in all when you look at these prices on EBay, it might be that some poor shlump is just trying not to lose his shirt to get rid of something. The seller always has to pay the ante to be in the game. The good news is that now I can use that money to purchase something that will be useful to me! Like a Dune Rat for example. Since EBay now owns Paypal, I would say it has aptly been renamed here on the board as EVILBAY.

Absolutely correct on evilbay and its getting worse, factor in about a 12-14% hit across all the fees, too much for a 5% value. Should all be fixed fee by auction, but don't get me started. On the shipping now I box and weigh for shipping estimates ahead of the auction as the post office isn't getting any cheaper either, often you can find Fedex or UPS will be cheaper but it varies, pays to check. Big deuce was a steal at both your initial price and the selling price, you can only get the Big Tub at Hobby Lobby, big Deuce is long gone and the more recent issue you sold is better than the original.
