Found this old trinket (hat pin) in a box the other day... "Hot Rod Magazine 1989 Model Car Nationals, Indianapolis, IN" Was that really almost 25 years ago??? Anyone else here, there, then?

That's pretty cool! I've never seen one before. When i first saw it i thought it was one of those slider puzzle things that we used to get when we were kids. they always had jumbled letters, numbers or a picture. you had to slide the tiles around to get them in the right order or to create the picture...know what i mean?

It's tiny, like an inch across.

I have one.....but something even more important to me is my 2nd place trophy from the Hot Rod contest! Winning the 2nd place kinda ended my contest building days. I had been doing the contest thing hard for 10 years and had burned out. I enjoyed the HR contest but realized 1-2 models a year was not what I wanted any longer.

I got some 'ink' out of the trip, which was what I'd wanted (A win would have rocked, but a couple pics in Scale Auto were enough.)...

It was a Roush IMSA GTO Cougar race car. I was destroyed when I had a wall unit hall. I have some pics I'll try and find.

I remember those contests. I think there were only two. I did remember Mike getting coverage. - a PS Daytona. I felt those Hot Rod contests were pretty prestigious - only thing to rival the GSL. Getting a trophy would have been a big deal. Well, done Dave and Mike.
