Hello to you all! I am a casual model builder and not a member here. I hope you can help me though. I was at a toy show awhile back and picked up some Trick T pieces to use as parts for a future dragster project. When I got them home I noticed the decal colors on the parts I had previously, did NOT match the decal colors on the parts I just acquired. EVERYTHING I have is molded in silver plastic as well. It was my understanding the Trick T was only issued once, after which it became the Stinger. Is there anybody at the Coffin Corner who can clear this up for me ? I was told to come here and ask because your club knows alot about Monogram. Thanks for any help, Jean

Yes, I can picture you on that. My original parts have the white/yellow/red decals in the exact same designs as the blue/white/purple decals you just detailed. Where do I send the pictures ? Thanks, Jean

Although I haven't read it, the Monogram book details some plastic variations that are a bit scarcer than the standard colors. To put it briefly somewhere in the '73 to '74 time frame of the oil embargo Monogram used whatever plastic was available to either start a run of a kit or finish it. If they were using orange on another kit and finishing a run and they were getting ready to mold Trick T's they used the rest of the orange material to start the run of trick T's before they switched to silver. So there ends up being an undocumented amount of color variation kits out there. The moral to this story is that there are known orange Trick T kits out there. Not one of the harder variations to find but still far fewer orange ones than silver ones. The boxes still maintained the Trick T artwork but had the later Monogram bar logo (not either the one with the kid or Mattel in it's logo). The box will have a small Mattel logo on the side typically as well. Hope this helps you out.

Well thats different, thats for sure ! Is it possible that the blue part of the decal is faded? Other than that maybe the blue ink wasn't working too well when they printed it. Are you looking for a set? Theres a guy on the site that may have some repops made.

No, not faded. Even the the red is different. The other one is blue/purple white/yellow, this one is pure white, yellow and red. I was just curious if Monogram would have done a different box top or a second issue alternative color scheme while retaining the Trick T silver/non Stinger parts OR if there was a second issue under some other name. They did it with the Dusters, the Snake Cuda, the El Camino f/c and the 57 Chevy funny cars. Thanks for the offer on repo decals, who do I contact ?

He is known on this site as Pegleg Bob . If you join the site you'll have access to his address . I will say his decals are very good , I've used several and they were top notch. He also does custom decals.
