I've been bouncing this idea around. what do you think of making a giant scale replica from a big t kit?

I am very tempted to do it What, do you need someone to double dare you? Fine. I double dare you to build a 1/8th scale LSG from a Big-T! Although a 1/8th Lindburg T might be a better starting point...

I am very tempted to do it Although a 1/8th Lindburg T might be a better starting point... I agree The Lindy isnt Z'd so it sits higher in the rear..

Funny you guys should mention the Z'ed frame. Many years ago I was looking at making a copy out of 1/24 monogram stuff. The Swee Tee (also LittleT) chassis was crazy close to the laramie chassis and then if you consider the 6 pack of carbs on the Little T its there. The coolest thing at that scale was if you had a sand crab the back tires matched up pretty good. The down fall was not really a stage that matched up very well in scale. So what that amounts to is that the Big T is a close match to the Laramie chassis since it is a scaled up version of the Little T. A Lindy kit might yield you a 6 pack and other parts though since the monogram ones don't show up very often.

The main problem I encountered was the rear tires, I plan on doing resin kit tires. I plan on using the kit tires for the front and I am planning on finding some resin kit hubcaps. The body isn't a main problem I plan on using eather plastic sheeting or basawood. Balsawood has a nice, flat, good finish. I once built a peanut machine from primered balsawood, but never finished the kit. After a couple flat coats of primer then sanding the kit looked great.

nahh, tires shouldn't be an issue. Look to r/c car parts and you will find what you need. for example, this is a 1:10 scale r/c buggy that i built. there are larger scale paddle tires out there for r/c's. you just have to search.

the tires on my r/c car are the ones that came with it. It's a 2010 Tamiya sand scorcher re-issue (it was originally issued in 1979-80). you can find all kinds of r/c car and truck tires on e-bay. Or check some on line hobby shops that specialize in r/c. you'll want to check the places that specialize in r/c trucks and rock crawlers because they would probably have tires closer to the 1:8 scale size. check with pro-line tires, check e-bay for r/c car paddle tires, and a-main hobbies. the only thing that i can see that may be an issue is the rim diameter. it seems like most r/c paddle tires are low profile, requiring a very big rim to fill them. you'll probably need to find some that have an old-school, taller sidewall to make them look right in my opinion. be warned, r/c car tires can be expensive!

Does anyone rember a couple of months back someone posted a 1/12 scale boot hill express? That kit gave me the idea to build this one. So basically it is going to be a giant 1/8 scale version of a 1/16 scale kit One other idea I had was to get some fiberglass and resin and do the 1/12 scale surfite. But Iwould have to finish the stage ghost first

For the skeletons just search for 8 or 9 inch skeleton there are a few to chose frrom and if you build it keep us updated another Idea if you need one is a 1/8 outhouse the t frame would be great for one and you could build the outhouse from the balsa
