Beatnik Bandit II was created by Ed in 1995 as a tribute to his famous 1960 Beatnik Bandit show car. This one i dug out of my archives and dusted off and will attempt to make something out of what I started years ago... Well, I've noticed that already, some parts are missing, we'll see, this I have assembled so far now... I lowered this center console thing, it looked with that support, like too high... Now, I've cleaned the body and painted it fresh, although the color looks a little different on this picture... Now comes the graphics part, quite a lot of decals!

Bobby, great as usual.
I think. . .the decals have the fly incorporated in the graphics. I guess the story is.. . as they were setting up for a show. Someone dropped a wrench on the car. . and Ed quickly painted a fly over the chipped paint. The person doing the decals for the kit was told this story. . .and then once the decal sheet was completed. . . Ed like the work so much he signed a decal sheet for the artist.
The decal designer is one of my old students . . .and a great friend.

That sucks Bobby..... I had problems with mine too, most of the stripes went on in pieces, the green on the nose, and tail I hand painted. From what I've read over the years since this kit was released, the decal sheets were faulty from the beginning.

I heard, years ago, that a coat of clear Krylon sprayed over an old decal sheet would bind things back together. never tried it... just passing on the info. Makes sense, though... pretty much the same stuff as decal lacquer.
