Actually , all of the cars from the movie are available in 1/64th scale along with some figures . Do a search for 1/64 American Graffiti Diecast .

tooold, the "Mel's Drive-In" kit is HO scale which is 1/87th scale, so the 1/64 diecast vehicles would be considerably out of scale. Had the same problem when Moebius did the Munster's House in HO, both the Munster's Coach and the Dragula were available in 1/64 diecast, but were too large for the model of the house.

That's too bad in both cases that these are not available in 1/64 so Hot Wheels, Matchbox, Johnny Lightning etc. could fit right in. I guess they figured there would be more interested buyers who would fit these into model railroad layouts. Kit looks cool though. Gerry G

You're right about the size difference between the kit and the diecast cars that are available . I'm planning on " Up-Scaling " this to the proper size . Looking at the parts , most of them are simple square or rectangular shapes that can be modified or re-made to larger dimensions . Even the main roof section can be enlarged by adding to the perimeter . I might be over simplifying it a bit , but I guess I'll find out .

One good thing about this little kit, if you have a well stocked model railroad shop around, there are tons of nice built-ups, and kits in HO scale to stock this baby up!!!

I have most of the star cars in HO scale form my Mel's. There is a kit for milners car made by Jordan. The Merc and 55 Checy are easy. And I even got a HO scale 2CV!! There is more available in 1/87 than in 1/25.
