A buddy and I were talking about the "good old days" and the subject of the old Monogram Snoopy and Red baron kits came up. He was wonderiing what kits like that would be worth, open or not. I was looking myself for these kits in the past, and I know Evilbay can be unrealisitc when it comes to prices since a bidding war can shoot a price to the limit. Has anyone purchased these kits at a show ?

I never purchased mine at a show but I can ring in Don. Honestly these aren't rare kits, maybe somewhat scarce but not rare. Built ups with box should be in the 50 to 75 range from what I've seen over the years and unbuilt in the box maybe 100 to 125 depending on how bad you wanted one like that. Factory sealed is a bit tougher on these although they have shown up from time to time. I probably wouldn't put the sealed ones much more than the open ones but possibly 150 give or take some. I've never owned all of them. In fact, I only ever wanted to the two planes. The Bugatti, motorcycle, and the high wire act all seem to be just below the planes. I wouldn't hold me to any of that though. I have not looked at these kit prices for some years now. That's just where I think they might be at from my experience. After writing this I looked at eBay and seen that I wasn't far off. A couple instances of higher and several instances of lower tells me that things haven't changed much on them.

Thanks AJ. I would't mind finding buildups of these myself as I had both as a kid. I still remember "painting" the details on the Barons face with a black magic marker because I was out of black paint ! I agree with you on the other kits ;they never interested me as much as the planes did.

According to Thomas Graham's Book, "Monogram Models",Tom Daniel had his hands in the design of three of these Snoopy kits.I found images of two of 'em,but I couldn't find an image the third kit named "Red Baron Fokker Triplane"....here are images of two of the three that Tom Daniel helped design: Todd

AJ is right on target here.. I'm real close (maybe a smidgeon over) for what I paid for my sealed kits and spot on for the open kits ... the only reason a price may fluctuate is due to a bidding war.. that's why I've never used eBay as a "staple" for gauging the worth of my kits.. just my 2 cents ..
