I've been playing hooky from a few of my 1:1 projects now that I'm home, and with all the talk of a contest, I've been digging out some models and tinkering.... I find myself inspired and excited. Since we recently moved into our new home, and the time away with my job, I haven't really had a chance to really sit down and work for a year or more. As usual I try and work on a couple of cars at the same time to let things dry and give me time to ponder the next steps... I've been digging through my parts boxes, and stumbled across this stalled project that I had completely forgotten about. It's a Red Baron II that wasn't finished back when we had the Tom Daniel contest. I didn't make the deadline. Totally forgot about it until this morning.... Models are great things... you can stop and let them sit for years, even, and they are right there when you return. No rust, no leaves, no decay... just happy plastic waiting to live. You guys ever stumble across something you forgot all about?

My model kit, and die-cast collection takes up two 12'X 20' garages, plus all my Monogram/Revell, Lindberg big scale stuff is in my girlfriends garage. I also have a spare bedroom that houses most of the newer kits I've purchased in the last 8 years, so when asked if I run across anything I forgot I had, the answer is YES, all the time....

Oh yes! In the same big boat on this one. The happy part of this is discovering your own stuff that you didn't remember you had like it is Christmas morning. The maddening part is finding that vintage rarity in your own stuff that you just paid an arm and a leg for because you thought you didn't have it.

Yes, Brandon, you're not alone! To me, it happens every day, sometimes I look at myself for hours through my boxes, in search of material for projects that just attacked me mentally... ... sometimes, I see trees everywhere, but not the forest... ... and again, I look at my projects, some I've really forgotten already, but others are only momentarily frozen... Well, I give you here only those of which I have pictures: Megahaulercoffincorner.proboards.com/thread/4069/megahauler-wip-update-12-novSpeedwagon:Cherry Bomb:Garbage Truck:Vega Mini Van:Stage CoachThe Groovy DumpBig Red Baron - my versioncoffincorner.proboards.com/thread/16807/big-red-baron-version-updateThe Butcher Truckcoffincorner.proboards.com/thread/9062/butcher-truck-wip-dez-09The Winewagoncoffincorner.proboards.com/thread/3698/winewagon-wip-6-aug-11Sandshark Trikecoffincorner.proboards.com/thread/17308/sandshark-trike-wip-15-junPiewagonbashcoffincorner.proboards.com/thread/3911/piewagonbash-update-7-july-13The Moon Marauder coffincorner.proboards.com/thread/18511/moon-marauderThe Timber Truckcoffincorner.proboards.com/thread/17651/timber-truck-wip-20-julyMonkees Mobile (not Barris)coffincorner.proboards.com/thread/13075/monkees-mobile-barris-update-julyPizza Wagon with a few engine variants... And these are my "other" projects, all no longer in their original form, tunings, kitbashes, scratchbuilds... Some are new and some already 20 years old... Partially nearly finished, others in a more or less advanced phase, and again those who do not have a right direction... And, umm, yes, I am incorrigible, it continues to expand...

for me it's more about never finishing anything, rather than forgetting it. Since I sold off most of my collection to buy my roadrunner. I only kept my pfalmeout rat rod, my two wolfies kits, hemi howler body/ engine/ frame, and the lil gypsy wagon. the kits I build tend to get built and really never get finished, kinda like the beltway around DC, there is always some construction going on. Although I did start up work on a few kits I had laying around when cleaning my garage

Well, I have around 500 unbuilt 1:24 and 1:25 scale cars, plus WWII airplanes, a lot of chopper bikes, and lots of other stuff... So I also know the feeling of finding something you forgot you have... Its a nice feeling... My record was when I lived in this small apartment, so allmost all of my unbuilt kits were stuffed away in boxes in two small rooms in the basement. One day looking for a non-model related thing, I emptied one of the rooms, and in the back I found 3 boxes with probably 30-40 kits, that I totally forgot about... It was like christmas
