WEll hey there darque wanderer- Nice to meet ya!! I was at KMCAS from 1989-1992!! Loved those strip bars!! LOLLIPOPS on WAIKIKI was the best for me!! Then stumbling to Jack in the Kracks for some food!! The best sight was at 1:00 am at the liberty bus pick- up and about 40 MARINES passed out on the grass!! WE never left one of our brothers behind!!! I just felt sorry for the WMs (WOMEN MARINES) that had to ride back to base with us on that bus !!GREAT TIMES BROTHERS!!

Last winter I found a kit that was started in '86 in Great Mistakes, NTC, IL from a Street Rodder Magazine. 28 or so years later I found it a little beat up. Basically it was the Revell '29 pickup kit which could be built as a roadster p/u or closed cab. SRM showed details how to take 2 kits bash them to make an extended/king cab, lengthen the bed and running boards for weight distribution, and finally widen rear fenders for duallies for possible tow vehicle. Some how it survived moving to Carl Vinson (and a couple visits to Pearl Harbor '88 and '90), dry dock in Bemerton,WA, marriage with tours from Pear ('92-'95), to Dam Neck, VA ('95-'05) and moving to Denver, CO. It only suffered broken windshield posts, lost doors, smashed box. I found parts in various kit boxes to complete my project. Now it has a tri-power 390 Caddy, wearing cracked HOK model purple lacquer over silver rustoleum sprayed outside at 38degrees dropping to 28 degrees so the lacquer cracked instead of crinkling, cool affect. To further make this interesting is my friend introduced me to slot drag racing so I built a chassis for the body. Attachment Deleted
So, anyway, oldcarrestorer72, hope you get some fantastic projects out of your budget builds!!
