Hello All:
My name is Peter and I'm from Ottawa, Ontario (anyone else here from Ottawa?) I'm not sure if this is the location to post this intro but if it isn't please advise and I'll post it there.
I've been a big fan of show rods ever since seeing Boot Hill Express on the shelves as a boy back in the mid 60s. I could never afford a show rod kit as a kid though - too expensive for my meagre 25 cents a week allowance AND I knew that I could never do the kit justice on a build anyway. The only car that I ever built as a kid was the Revell Henry J back in 1969.
I do have a number of show rod kits in the box now though and a vintage Dragon Wagon store display.
Are there any board members recognized as "master modellers" by all? I'd like to try and build an original Ala Kart and have a number of questions before I even try and attempt it. I might try a Club de Mer first though. Either way, I'd like to try and keep my mistakes to a minimum as this would be my first build.
Thanks for having me.
Peter

Welcome to the site Peter ! I'm sure you can get all the help and info you'll need here for your build ; I know I have over the years . -By the way, if you could build that Revell Henry J kit back in 1969 , the Boot Hill would have been a breeze ! LOL

LOL Boot Hill has some fitting problems according to a good friend of mine who was in the process of building one when he passed away a month ago. I don't know that I'd tackle that one until I had at least a few others under my belt. Back in '69 a build was just a build (and not a good one lol). A build now is the build AND the paint - something that I've never done before...

Hey Peter, First welcome...you are among like minded modelers here when you think "show rod". As you will see there are many very skilled modelers here .I am just like you....smitten in the 60's by Show Cars. Though I will never be considered a pro I can offer up a few pointers that you will probably find on most model instructions. Test fit pieces prior to gluing, scrape plating away from areas that will receive glue, use glue sparingly, and most importantly have freekin' Fun!! By the way what were your questions? Hale "Showcarnut" Hi Hake - I seem to remember skimming over those instructions on instruction sheets at one time or another and not much more lol. I've got a ton of questions that I'll pull together and post. Is it best to post them here or elsewhere? Peter
