ok, i took some pics. of the project x 57 chevy right off my t.v. screen, and they came out pretty good. there really isn't any good, bright side shots of the car in the movie, but i think you guys will like these pics. i have to build a model of this car. project x sitting outside of smittys speed shop... project x pulling out of smittys, with duke, jimmy shine, and smitty in the car "going to get some beers". notice the sign above the car ? it's supposed to be smittys speed shop, but the sign says "joe allen automotive". also notice that the rear tires are wrinkle wall slicks. busted by bimbo and clark (the 2 town flunky cops) right after the drag race between project x and the cobra. last but not least...that killer sectioned 40 ford that was sitting inside of smittys speed shop. notice the dragster sitting behind the car. to quote tony nancy after tony danza asks if it's pee yellow..... "it's tony nancy yella".

Hey Rob, those are pretty decent pics for being snapped of the TV screen. This is one of my all time favorite movies. Great cars, great filming, great hi-jinks. It was already a classic when it hit the big screen.

The Hollywood Knights has been my favorite car movie ever since I first seen it back in the early 80s. I believe it was on HBO when HBO was in it's infant stages and there was only 1 channel. Just like seeing some of the cool 70s movies on the Movie Channel when it first came about way back when! Anyway, I absolutely fell in love with that 40 Ford and when my slot car track was setup, I'd always race the Willys around playing that it was the Ford. And the Project X is just outstanding. I'd really like to see the VW a little bit closer up as well because it seems a little out of it's era, maybe a little early but it may just be me. So many cool cars in the movie! Anyway, just sharing your enthusiasm for it and can't believe you had never seen it sooner.

A.J. aj, i saw this movie back in about 1981-85 sometime. saw it more than once back then. but, up until recently, i could never find it on dvd and actually, i kind of forgot about it until a few weeks ago when my friend told me that he found it on dvd...he ordered a copy for me. anyway, did you ever notice that the v.w. you mentioned, has a chopped top? i'll try to get a pic. of it tonight altho there isn't a full shot of the car. but, you can clearly see that the top has been chopped. and the t-bucket that they keep referring to as a "rail job" has a blown big block in it !

Yeah, I did notice it, that's kind of why I wanted to see it again but you can never quite catch a good glimpse of it. Judging by what you've done, you'll probably be able to catch a decent clip of it but they don't show it very much. I think maybe 2 scenes if I remember correctly. Another catch that I made one of the last times I watched it was that the Porsche they so affectionately refer to as the James Dean car isn't the same as the LiL Bastard. It seems if I remember correctly to be a 356 model but I could be wrong. I haven't watched it for awhile. There just seems to be lots of little imperfections in the era but it doesn't take anything from the movie, I love it all the same. That 40 seems like something you might have seen in the 70s which seems to be the same for a lot of the cars in there. I think there is a Mustang in the background at the drivein that always caught my attention as there being something wrong. I hate to sound like I'm doing a critique but some things just jump out. There's a little bit more required than simply copying from one to another. 99.99% of the titles on the racks have encryption which all software companies must adhere to. I use Roxio, Nero, Studio and a couple of others and they all error out when they hit the copy protection (encryption). There are products available that will copy all but the encrypted parts (clonedvd2 comes to mind) as well as others, but, you must swear to never copy a copy protected dvd. The 'Thunder Road' traveling dvd's that are circulating have all been through the clonedvd2 program and can be copied as is.
Even the standalone dvd burners are required to adhere to the encrypted signals from say another stand alone dvd player.
just thought you should know..
