I must say the shelves of Hobby Lobby are booming! I've been known to rant about the blandness of the offerings in the past, but I am pleased to change my stance. The re-issues and new kits (gasser Ford wagon?) are awesome. The aisle was even full of people buying kits. Many of the kits brought back some memories for me, and I had to remind myself I was in there shopping for others, or I would have drained my wallet. The trophy series cars and 3n1 super stars with the optional goodies, like the AMT '53 Ford pickup, '49 Ford convertible, the spilt window Vette with fenderwell headers, the AMT '58 Chevy, the '37 Chevy with the clear hood.. a hundred childhood memories came rolling back. One kit that surprised me was the '70 Pontiac. It came with some cool scuba gear that MIGHT be a replacement for a Blue Beetle, or at least lend a cool element to another build or even a beach-going show rod. Happy days are here again,.. get out, go buy some kits, and let's hope they make more.
