Ok, so we know Photobucket's sneaky deal , but I was wondering - is there another free site to download pictures ? Money is real tight on the homefront , and I cant pay yearly fees just to post pictures - unless I want to sleep in the garage !

After what Photobucket just pulled, I would be afraid to risk pictures on another free site. Fotki is $1.53 a month - that's pretty close to free

I guess I am out of the loop, what did photobucket do? Photo Bucket wanted a yearly fee of $399.00 to allow you to post your photos. Paul

I guess I am out of the loop, what did photobucket do? Photo Bucket wanted a yearly fee of $399.00 to allow you to post your photos. Paul And hijacked thousands (low estimate) of pictures all over the internet , replacing them with a grey clock looking thing until you started paying for the services they used to advertise as free . No warnings, one day all the free Photobucket pictures all over the internet were gone.

I have more than 3500 photos at photobucket...I have subscribed to a paid account for over 5 years, and I got screwed too!
Anyway, I also have a Mediafire account...had it for about 10 years. I used it to host my files that I share online and for file storage/backups.
I have now started using it for my image files. All the images I post on forums and websites, using direct links. Like for example, putting pictures into forum posts. I have Flikr and Imgur for my online albums/galleries...but those are a bit more tedious when retieiving direct links.
I contacted mediafire first, and talked to them about third-party-linking. Even with their free accounts, there are no restrictions, limitations or charges. The process of getting a link for an image takes a few steps, but you get used to the process.
The basic free account comes with a ton of storage...but you can upgrade for more room. And its one of the cheapest storage sites online.
Just my two cents...check it out.

And...make sure you grab and install the photobucket plugin for your browser. It bypasses that photobucket gray picture thing...allows you to see the original images. Just search for "photobucket embed fix" in the add-ons/extensions for whatever browser you are using. I have it installed in Chrome and Firefox.

It's been a while since I have been on here, but I had the same problem with Photobucket as you all have had. Unfortunately I couldn't pay that yearly fee so I downloaded all the photos I had and deleted my Photobucket account. Now, after two computers died on me, and I'm currently using a laptop computer, I have some of my original photos that currently don't show in several threads on here on a 1Gig memory stick. I hope to go back and re-post those photos when I have the time.
As an add-on to my post, I now have an Imgur account and have been loading pics on there. Hope to be posting pics on here again soon.
