The box art for the Baja Humbug reissue was released today and I'm told it is on schedule to be released in 3-4 weeks !

Just got mine today! So psyched to get it started, but I’m in the middle of Glitter Bug that I got 2 of. One for me and one for my 12 yr old daughter that we are doing together. But Humbug is next in line!

Here's a look inside the new Baja Humbug . What stands out first is that it's molded in a Dark Blue instead of White ! Those who like white plastic for painting may not like it but I think it was a good move on Revell's part . Deal's Wheels were always molded in color and maybe this will help sales , that's a good thing . All of the parts are crisply molded with little to no flash . Chrome is nice and bright as usual from Revell . One thing I always hated about all of the reissues dating from the 90's until now was the soft vinyl used to mold the tires , they were always deformed from being packed in the box and sometimes unusable . These tires are molded with a very stiff vinyl material just like the original 70's Deal" Wheels and should maintain there shape just fine . Kudos to Revell for this improvement !

Good review, thanks Bob! I wonder how those white decals will cover the dark blue plastic.
The finish of the plastic, from some angles, looks like it maybe has a bit of flake or pearl in it too - or is that just my eyes?

I wouldn't expect any problems with the decals but I'm sure we'll find out soon enough . Nothing special about the color . It's a very dark blue , I suspect it may have been used on an aircraft model so it was available for this .

I've got an original sparkle blue on the shelf, and an original solid blue in the stash. This one looks darker than the old solid blue, and I'm happy the new version is molded in color, as well. Funny, tho, of all the cars molded in white, it probably shoulda been Dave's Baja VDub!

It's not worth that much Bobby . The last original unbuilt I bought was for half that price . . . he's dreamin' ! But the originals should retain their value okay because of the colors they were molded in .

As for the new one being molded in color , I would have preferred white to do some custom work on it but understand why they did it in blue . But the new blue is really way too dark for my taste .

I agree with the color being a little dark for my taste. Got a coat of primer on it today and the blue metal flake will go on tomorrow! Any word on other reissues any time soon?

I got one off the Bay and should have it this Thursday if the weather doesn't interfere too much. Thanks for a great review, Bob!
-UPDATE- I received the kit in the mail on Wednesday during that last Nor'easter snowstorm. Started working on it last night.
