I am wondering if the paddy wagon decals were ever printed in silver ? Or if the chrome was ever issued in chrome silver and not the gold ? Thanks

The Stevens Hobby/Monogram Chicago Toy Fair reissue a few years ago had chrome silver parts. Never saw anything but gold decals.

I think most of the issues of the Paddy Wagon including the first had chrome parts ; for a while they were gold and then went back to chrome ,which looked a lot better IMHO

I think the gold was yellow paint over the regular chrome-colored kit chrome...you could maybe just strip the yellow off? I’m sure I heard of someone doing that once?
I haven’t tried it, but I wonder if there’s something that would remove the paint but leave the chrome?

I heard of leaving the parts in thinner for a short period. Say an hour or maybe a bit longer or shorter. It'll be something you need to babysit.

It is an acrylic coating, generally denatured alcohol with aid in it's removal. Paul

I wondered about thinner or alcohol, those both make sense - would need to test to make sure you don't accidentally strip the chrome though obviously

I wondered about thinner or alcohol, those both make sense - would need to test to make sure you don't accidentally strip the chrome though obviously The chrome is vacuum plated, than it is clear coated with Nitrocellulose lacquer. The "gold" is tinted nitrocellulose lacquer. The chrome usually isn't affected but you do have to clear it to keep the shine. I use Tester Gloss Clear Acryl. Paul
