Hi I used the search engine as well as reading any or all posts relating to paint/chrome stripping before adding this post. I hope that this isn't old news. Back in the fall I was fortunate to find an Uncertain T glue bomb at a flea market with almost all parts there. Much of the car was painted in what I likely think was the old school Testors enamel in black and gloss red. Since I hadn't done anything much with stripping models, I did some research and came across a recommendation on a website devoted to Dungeon and Dragons modelers. It is a product called LA's Totally Awesome Cleaner that can be found at the Dollar Tree. I have been totally amazed as it has removed the enamel without any problems. I used a toothbrush to loosen/clean the paint and then finished with a soap and water wash. Chrome came off easily as well. I left the enamel parts overnight and the chrome for a lesser time. It seemed to not be particularly caustic and I handled the parts without gloves when cleaning. I diluted the final mixture heavily with water and poured near a weeded patch in my back yard. I've seen many suggestions as to brake cleaner, simple green, easy off, purple power and other products but, only one fleeting mention of LA's TAC here on the site. Not sure it will work with every type of paint, but hope that this suggestion helps in some instances. Stay Well!

I like that stuff too! Haven’t found a paint yet that it won’t remove! Good tip!

Hi This stuff is truly amazing. I just soaked a Uncertain T base that was painted in brown enamel and within 24 hours all I had to do was clean with soap and water. As to the weeds, they seem growing well after I dumped the diluted mixture. I cannot understand how something that removes paint, seemingly is non-caustic and costs a dollar a bottle works. Stay Well!
