Hi I had asked on a separate thread about painting yellow plastic so there is no bleed through. I am starting to move through fit and finish and I have noticed that the front firewall and nose clip really have problems. It seems like the both areas do not match up well. Has anyone worked through this kit and if so what was your experience? Thanks in advance Stay Well! Production Mgr.

As for the fit issues, remember the kit molds are about 60 years old.

I have tan & black currently in my stash. At any rate I should have said that a good automotive primer usually (actually has always) eliminates the bleed through issue for me

I have an original issue sedan in dark grey. I use Duplicolor primers and no issues and Duplicolor Acid Etching primer for resin and metal parts. Being a paint horder I also have a few cases of Floquil Barrier. Have no idea what it is but nothing bleeds through it. Maybe shellac?

I have heard, not tried, that rattle can silvers made by Tamiya can act as a barrier on yellow and red plastic, preventing that bleed through. Then you prime on that and then your colours. Cheers

I have also used silver on many occasions , mostly Krylon , and have had no problems. It goes on very thin and dries fast. You can buy small cans of Krylon spray at most craft stores under the name "Small Shots" if you want to test it on your kit.

Go buy a can of Zissner BIN shellac primer. Spray it on the plastic and it will stop yellow and red from bleeding through, probably other plastics too. I know it works on those. You can get it at Home Depot.
