Every year around the Christmas holiday, this little jewel seems to reappear and tempt me.This is a hold out from the Revell model builders club stamped 1973.There is a "Cherry Pie" already in the Guest Gallery, but in fact, it is a fake and not a Cherry Pie at all.(The submitter pulled a fast one on our fearless leader, or he knowingly let it slide by)Anyways, somebody needs to get this xacto knife out of my hand. I really just want to cut into it, but have no want or need to build it. I just want to lust over the plastic SOMEBODY TALK ME ME DOWN!

I got the same kit from the club. I remember coloring the top with a black magic marker as I had no black paint (or red, for that matter) . I tried building it quickly as any 12 year old would and made a mess of the front end pieces and...it never got built ! I still find bits of the kit from time to time in a large junk box I've had for close to 50 years now. Maybe someday I'll be able to get one on Ebay for a decent price and finally build it.

I have one I bought at a show years ago, freaked out the gentleman selling it when I opened it. I build all of my old kits, some of which I've had since I was 8 or 9. Not going to keep the so my wife or kids can A) toss them out or B) sell them for 50 cents. Open it and enjoy it.

I can't help you on that one Paul. I buy them to build, not a box collector. I bought mine from ebay many years ago. Sorry buddy! I look forward to seeing the build.

You know how I stand on the subject of building collectible boxed kits... with glue in hand!!
I believe I have a similar club kit in my pile. I'll probably build it someday (but, again, it's yet another in a line of red kits).
On my plus side, I only paid $1.98 for it (in 2014)!

I would open it because I've found many problems with sealed kits over the years. tires can "eat"into other plastics if they are laying against them.especially clear parts. I bought a perfect sealed quicksilver that the decals and "rug" had become one ruining both of them . also opened a perfect sealed thomas flyer to find the molds were not completely filled turning it into a parts kit. plastic bag the tires and decals and put it back away if you wish

If it helps any, here's a pic of the one I have:
The red plastic and chrome are in separate bags (chrome is unopened). Two trees of two-piece tires. The decals are in good shape, but old.
As to the clear plastic, all you get is the piece of clear acetate in the photo (cutting template in the instructions).
If I ever do build it, it may be one that I leave the body unpainted (all those hinges!).
