As previously mentioned in a separate post, I'm in the early stages of cleaning up part of the Show Rod Rally with in intent of even getting the Guest Gallery going again for new submissions. For starters:
Speaking of housekeeping, there are a number of links that are broken and lots of other issues I'll be slowly fixing. For example, Dave Marek's bio is WAY out of date (I have reached out to him for an update.). Lots of other things too, like my 73 GTO Odyssey web site still showing (broken) "Flash" music snippets. Gezzzzzzz, I don't even have that car anymore after selling it to my good friend Scotty Doyle, who helped me pull the engine and redo other improvements on it. And I have nothing on my 72 Chevelle adventure on Route 66, my 58 Impala adventure and ownership, and my 67 Buick GS400. I'll think about how I tell those stories (if at all) in the revamp.
Truth is, after Paul Canney passed, I was not sure what I wanted to do here. After lots of thinking and discussing with myself, I decided I was going to rebuild it with a modern tool (happens to be called Rapidweaver.)
(Insert 20 hours here of experimenting and working the Rapidweaver community to eventually realize I was in over my head, even though I built 3 sites with Rapidweaver from 2007--2012.)
OK, back to the drawing board. How about I just get a WYSIWYG HTML editor, and just fix the broken stuff? After playing with another 5 different web editors, I have settled on something called "Pinegrow". At least I think I have settled on it, because I have not given them $150 yet (I'm already out $80 on the other software I have now abandoned.)
OK so that's your update for now. By the way, when doing my research, I got on 4 different discussion boards and I think they were all run by the "Discord" platform. Man that's pretty slick stuff. But we have a bazillion postings here and no way can I blow all that up for a sexy new tool. That would be like leaving my wife of 38 years.......hmmmmm......ah sorry I lost my train of thought.
OK, that's your update for now. I'm locking this post, so if you want to give me feedback, him me at: gto1973@mac.com.
- Moved selected article downloads from The Bad News to the Tips and Tricks forum. I'll be deleting the Bad News in the future, so if you want anything else on there, get it soon.
- Removed the ability to create new posts on The Builder's Showcase. I'm not sure exactly why Paul created this forum, as I find it confusing. It only has 22 postings, so I'll be moving these threads to the Completed Show Rods forum (I just discovered I can do this--cool.) Soon, I'll be killing it as part of this housekeeping.
