short video of the project x 57 chevy

i took video of the project x 57 drag racing the a/c cobra form the hollywood knights movie. this was recroded right off my t.v. screen, and it actually came out decent.
once they get going, and the shot shows both cars from the rear watch closely. the 57 gets a little sideways when he hits second gear. and shortly after that, watch for the smoke from the engine compartment. first it's a small puff, and then a nice big cloud. this is when the"hurt" the motor according to hot rod magazine.

I'm curious now Rob. Do you happen to know what engine was used in the Project X? I used to have a couple magazines with it in but I don't know where they are at this moment. And do ya think the elusive 427 Cobra could still take it. Interesting...very interesting.

why yes....at the time the movie was made, the motor was a bored out 283. it was bored to 292 cubic inches. even with the blower, the 5000 lb. 57 chevy wouldn't stand a chance against the cobra (in my opinion anyway). the cobra is much lighter, and has a 427 in it. the only problem i could see for the cobra woudl have been traction. but even if he burned the tires off the line, the cobra would have had no problem catching the 57. don't get me wrong, the 57 was a very strong runner, even for it only being a 292 inch motor. when he takes off from the lights after the cop tells him to pull it around the corner, he yanks the front wheels off the ground.

yeah I get a kick out of that nice bounce when he takes off from the light. That whole scene kicks a$$!
