There is much confusion over the names of certain shows. Is the Grand National the one shown in the Bay Area and put on by Rick Perry ? Or is it the one that is in Pomona, Ca. ? Also does anyone know the dates of the 2009 show, assuming that this one was the 2008 show.

THANK YOU!!!!!
Yes, that is the original Ala Kart that has been restored over the past few years. I don't know if it looked that good in 1959 but the modern materials sure do make it shine. Okay, how many of us are going to dig out our original AMT kit and build it with all those excellent shots as reference? Don't forget the tools and spare tire in the bed.
That gold 49 Merc is stunning! As is the 29 wood delivery!

Bob,
I couldn't agree with you more about the show names as they all seem to sound the same... The Grand National IS in Pomona BUT Perry's show, the San Francisco Rod & Custom show IS held just a week or 2 before at the cow palace...
John Buck owns the GNRS & the Portland R&C, the Seattle Roadster & the Sacramento Autorama... www.hotrodshows.com
Here's the story as I know it; At one brief time, both Perry & Buck owned the last of the ailing Oakland Roadster Show. But Perry either owns the Cow Palace in San Fran. or knows the owner. So Perry wanted it moved there but Buck didn't, insisting it stay in Oakland... They couldn't agree & it went to court where the judge took the " Oakland Roadster Show" name rights away from both of them & divided up the assects 50/50 or something close & sent them packing..! Kinda like divorce court I guess...
As for 2009, it will be held the last weekend of Jan. as always, again www.hotrodshows.com will be your best bet even if you live in Pomona..! If you choose to come down, just let me know if I can help..!Hizoot ;D
