Another boo boo on a project caused me to need to strip a radiator grill painted with Extreme Colors acrylics. It also has the acrylic clear coat. I droped the piece in the "purple pond" over night. When I fished it out it was just as pretty as the day I painted it. Nothing!
2 questions:
1) Does Castrol Super Clean have a shelf life?
2) Can you strip acrylic paints with it?
The part is back in the pond for a longer soak.
Thanks
Scott

I think it gets a little weaker if you re-use it.... I did have a VW Der Beetle Bus thingy that had been brush-painted on the lower half with a yellow that would not budge in the CSC... it just got a little chalky but did not move. Wonder if it was acrylic?

Well in my experience,i used acrylic on my dragon wagon bash,it has been on for a year , and the other day i threw it into the purple pond and nothing ,,as well,,,so i added some fresh stuff and the next day it was off,,,also i don't know if you use primer or not, under your paint,, but i find it helps when stripping.

I've only used it twice & the second time I used it, it was much weaker than the first, even with refreshing (adding more)..!
Sooo what's on your new project list Flounder..?

I swear by POLLY S ELO (easy lift off) paint and decal remover. Safe on mosti plastic and metals. removes unwanted decals, coatings and most types of paint.
I just striped a 1970's Amt Kenworth cabover (that was probably painted in the 70's!!! with numerous drippy coats of red paint. I just brush on heavy coats of the Polly S and within two hours the paint was crinkling up I just kept brushing on more Polly-S and after six houts tops I was able to use a toothbrush and water and stripped it clean!!!!
You do not imerse the part, just brush on what you need to keep it "wet" and when satisfied just brush with warm soapy water and rinse. I have noticed on old Johan hearse kits the plastic does become brittle, but this has only happened with the jo-han kits. All others have been fine.

I bought a 16 oz can about a year ago and I am still using the same can. I bought mine from my local Mom and Pops hobby shop, but the husband has since past away and the wife sold off the inventory. I did find this website: www.hobbylinc.com/htm/flo/flof542143.htm

Hey Zoot,
It's still the C. I didn't say anything before the Grand National show, but at about 3am I drilled a hole through the radiator tank for a water fitting line and then went right through the grill shell too. It was was a true "oh sh#t" moment.
I knew there was no way to fill the hole and repaint it with the show 4 hours away. So I extend the fitting line so it sat flush with the front of the grill shell. It was a perfect little silver dot. Almost looked like it belonged there...Well almost. Good enough that no one questioned it.
Anyway, Since I am going to paint the name on the base with the same orange as the body, it time to repair the grill shell before Ventura.
I did spend some time with Nani working out some details on a project she is thinking about. But that's her gig.
Can't wait to see your challenge car. Let me know if you need some pics.

Hey Fred & Scott,
Fred ; thanks for the link bud, I ordered some today & it should be here soon. I like to cut it with about 30 % brake fluid & let parts soak for an hour or 2... then wash... Again thank you Fred !
Soooo Flounder, that's what you & Nani were mumbling about at the end of the contest... I thought you might have had more header problems & I tried to pry it out of Nani but to her credit, she wouldn't tell..!
Didn't matter, even with that flaw, you simply won that class hands down. Ventura shouldn't be more difficult for you either..!
As for my challange project, it's doing well & I 'll stay more focused..! Not much change but it looks good. The funny thing is that I have the money for a new camera but not much time to shop & I HATE TO SHOP..!
