My fiance got a little peeved everytime I would go and work on models so I told her last night to come and try putting one together. So I got out the Wade E. Minut wierd-oh's since it is relatively simple to put together for her. When I opened the box something looked odd and sure enough when I cut the plastic bag open inside, there were 2 complete kits inside. She got hers all together last night and I going to show her how to drybrush it tonight. So far she thinks it is really fun so Im gonna get some more "figure" models for her. Anyone else have a gf or wife thats into building?

Mine's getting more interested but still not quite there yet. She DID pick out a model she wants me to build her AND a colour too, so she's getting there... ;D

One time I had a hard time putting a small piece into a tight spot(no jokes here) because of my big fingers and asked the little lady if she could try and attach it for me. After several attempts by her...she gave up, and said... how do you have the patience for that stuff as she walked away ;D

my wife has never really been interested in model building . she doesn't have the patience, and if doesn't work the first time, its game over !! She also has no idea why I spend hours trying to fix one part of an old kit I'm restoring when I have a pile of unbuilt kits just lying around . Now, the cool part is that she used to race stock cars and do demo derbies, so she's a bit of a gear head !

My wife isn't into building models but has on occasion helped me out with applying makeup to female figure models for me. Here is a 1/6 scale Batgirl she helped me with.

My wife doesn't build or even care to, but she does enjoy my builds and really encourages it. We dated for 11 yrs before we married (started dating at 13 yrs old) and we just celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary this past October 10th. (Nope not Halloween! ;D ;D) I have never stopped building since I was about 6 yrs old, so she was well aware of hobby passion.
She bought me the 1/8 scale Exterminator dragster for our anniversay, Hobby gift cards for Christmas, Birthdays, etc and for valentines day she bought me an electric R/C plane with a Brushless motor!!!............Definitely a keeper!!!! ;D ;D

My Wife is Suicide Doors...she's always been interested in my car's and started building her first about a year and a half ago...since then she's built up 90% of a 49 Merc, and again started another 49 (one AMT, one Revell.)..she's slow going...But enjoy's it...that's most important part I reckon!

My wife loves it. She never misses a chance to get involved. She wanted to enter some custom Hotwheels in the contest at the Hotwheels conventions and she ended up winning 1st place and is now in the PRO catagory. She didn't expect that one.

I tried to get her interested ... she even bought one (a Monogram truck street rod) and then never touched it. I found an old Revell kit of a horse (she loves horses) but no -- not interested in putting it together. So, model work is pretty much done by me.
However, she does jewelry / beadwork for her hobby, gives me advice on color & painting (and she'll ask me my opinion on her work), and will throw in a suggestion here and there. She's also gone with me to a few shows ... I still remember the huge smile on her face (and little clapping) when I picked up an award at one show, more special than the award itself.
One weird thing is how the rest of my family has treated me getting back into the hobby fulltime ... being a film collector before, it was like "that stuff is too weird" ... doing models again, its like I've got an "acceptable" hobby again, and they'll pick up models they find on sale and give them to me. Not complaining about that!

NOPE! ! ! ! !
Isn't it funny how we all try to buy/find/build kits that have the theme of "their" interests. . . but in kit form. . . hoping that they will get addicted and join in. . . so we can have someone to share, enthuse and encourage as we build.
But usually build alone!

Hey,, I really don't want my girl rummaging through my parts stashes! (or knowing what some of these old things REALLY cost...) Hahahahahaha.... Another question, how many of your women hate or disapprove of your hobby? I've heard of several folks who have been given the "Models or Me" threat... models don't argue, but they don't have that good stuff I like, either....

My wife started building aircraft models about 8 months ago to hang in our son's bedroom. Maybe she'll start building cars but for now she really enjoys aircraft, especially WW1 models.

my wife is not "crafty" or "artsy" at all. but, she likes to look at my builds because it boggles her mind as to where i come up with some of my ideas. she doesn't understand what it's like to build something from a vision in your mind, and have it come out the exactly how your vision was.she likes 1:1 cars and hot rods, so she understands what she's looking at when i show her a build. with every build she asks "how did you do that ?" or "where do you come up with this stuff ?" so she does show interest, but i can't see her picking up the glue and building something. it really blows her mind when i use something on a model that was not meant to be used for a model. like pen caps, or pop cans. i tell her that i'm going to use a pen cap to make a"whatever". when it's all done, she can't figure out how i am able to turn an everyday item into a part for a model. dan knows what i'm talking about...lol

Fantasy girl #2 looks like she had a wardrobe malfunction....and a very realistic one at that! (Janet Jackson would be proud)
My wife likes to eyeball my work, especially the Cobweb Classic build, but don't think she'd try to build one herself. Now, if I could get a '55 Chevy 1:1 to work on, I'd be the one handing her the tools! She loves race cars. BTW, we've been together 31 years. Happily married 26 years....me 12 and her 14. Seriously, trust me, I know who got the good end of the stick in this deal.

My wife built models with her older brothers when they were preteens. She hadn't built for years until we got together a dozen years ago. She mentioned that she had built as a kid, so I told her to get something out of the closet and build it. She has started several over the years, her favorite part of the build is doing the body work, mainly getting rid of the mold lines. Here are a couple of her award winners. The VW woody was the Peoples Choice winner at the Pacific NW Model Car Fest when woodies and station wagons was the theme. If memory serves the body is Ron Cash, the panels are cedar wood wrappers from cigars that are cut and fitted to each opening. The F-100 won the Pick-up class at the first couple contests she entered it in. After beating the guys several times most of the shows would no longer allow her to enter in anything other then the "Women's Class", needless to say she hasn't built much or entered any contests since. Unfortunate that their ego's wouldn't allow them to compete against her as any other builder.

Never been that lucky, with my ex wife, or any girlfriend since then, that shared or encouraged my interests in art, car, models or computers. Maybe that's why they are all exes. Yeah go ahead ladies, blame it all on me. hahaha
