Fellow Klowns! I couldn't say anything much before now as I wanted to be absolutely sure it was OK with Fritz first, but he's now given me the OK to share this news. On February 10, Fritz and his wife stopped by our house here in Liberty, MO ('burb of Kansas City, MO) and Fritz and I unloaded the Druid Princess right out on the street in front of our house. Fritz has known for quite awhile that the Princess is my wife's favorite Roth car of all time and he had it planned to surprise her with it. It's been kind of a running conversational thread for some time between us and he decided that, since he was bringing the Princess to KC for storage and transport on out west, it would be a great surprise for my wife to bring it over to our home. I have posted the pictures in a photobucket album I took that VERY cold day in February of this very special occasion. As you'll see by the expression on my wife's face in some of the pictures, Fritz just surpassed Santa Claus in the gift department in the Kendrick House. You'll also see some pics of ME sitting in the driver's seat and I look pretty pleased as well. There are many neat, close-up detail shots for all you Roth Nuts to enjoy as well. Our thanks go out to Fritz for a very special treat. What a guy! Here's the link to the Photobucket album... s102.photobucket.com/albums/m99/ellis795/druid%20princess%20visit/I'm gonna post this on the Corner and try it out. If it doesn't work quite right (but I THINK it will), I'll fix it as soon as possible! Ellis Kendrick

Amazing, thank you for sharing the great pictures of a very great car, one of my favorites also. I'd like to make a collage of the car, are your pictures larger than you have posted in photobucket? I want to make a poster as I do all the Roth cars. 24x36. I did Eldens cars also. Think I could get you to send me them on a disk? Let me know.
Thanks again for sharing. Jack (the guy in Topeka and wheelchair).

How cool is that! Having Fritz show up and roll out a Big Daddy car in front of your home. What a treat that must have been. Hey Fritz, I take back my recent statement about the ICE T not being one of my favorites. IT's my all time favorite...LOL! So when you get to working on that one and finish it up, feel free to stop by with it for me...ha ha! Just kidding, that's very cool what you did. And a very nice resto on it to boot. I definitely like it in the white better than the purple.

How KOOL is that! Man the neighbors had to be saying "what the ......."!That was very, very nice of Fritz to do that for her(you ;D).
Having not seen it up close..I thought it was a spray pattern for the stripping...but these "drip-swirl-lines"(is that the proper term?) had to be painstaking...KOOL! Great job as always Fritz!

I have to say, I don't think the Princess has EVER looked so good. Hat's off to Fritz for a fantastic resoration job. The paint is marvelous.

I'm glad everyone here is enjoying the pictures and Carrol and I are glad to have been able to share them with such a great bunch of fellow-modelers and show rod fanatics! I hope the close-ups and details I was able to get shots of help any future Druid Princess model builders.
The day that all happened, I tried to get as many pics as I could but all I REALLY wanted to do was just touch that masterpiece and soak in the memories of having her there. After Fritz left that morning, I thought about the other 100 pictures I wish I had taken while the Princess was sitting right there in front of me. Of course, the almost zero degree windchill that morning didn't make being outside for very long all that comfortable! My camera batteries weren't even working that well due to the bitter cold.
You'll notice that a couple of the shots have Fritz down on his knees in the trailer. When we got ready to power winch the Princess back up into the trailer, the battery on the winch conked out, at least partly, due to the cold and Fritz had to use the tie-down strap as a come-along to pull the car uphill an inch at a time until we got it back into the trailer. I offered to push if it would help but I quickly found out that (1.) that sucker is HEAVY and (2.) there just isn't anyplace to actually PUSH on that car! So, there we were in that freezing cold! Oh well, it DID give me more time with the Princess anyway.
I agree - Fritz did a knock-out job on her restoration! Your praise of his work and your sincere congratulations to him for his work I'm reading in this topic says it all for all of us Roth Finks.
We've all gotta be glad that there's guys like Fritz, Mark, and Dave, and all the Orbitron Restoration Team saving Big Daddy's legacy for us and future generations. There was only one Big Daddy Roth. What a guy he was and we owe the new generation of NEW radical showrod builders like the guys listed above (and let's not forget Elden Titus in that list as well) a big "Thank you" for keeping showrods alive!
