....want to get my butt in gear and do something else! I have to admit, I'm getting a bit fried on the Spider at the moment, so between looking at all of Dan's cool stuff, and drooling on the Richard Carroll articles being posted, Sooperdaves build photos, I've started yet another showrod project. I attacked one of TD's Pie Wagons last night full force! Roof was chopped to a nub of it's former self, used 2mm thick sheet plastic to build up the side walls of the cab to fit the body, reshaped rear window, and cut thru the sides of the body to run the rear axle/tires thru and drop this into the dust big time. Big Richard tires on the rear, might go very narrow on the front, not sure yet. It's a massacre right now, but I've been photographing it as it goes along. I've got maybe 2 hrs work in it so far, so it's pretty raw.... Thanks all of you guys for motivating me! Rob, Dan, Chief, all of you!! Your cranking out some great work here!!

Now thats lookin' low and mean Tim. It definitely gives it more attitude. I also like that you cut out the side panel all the way into the top valley to come out around the tires.
I wonder if theres any way you could keep that fluid "C" shape by the cab(see pic)[/size]

Yanno I think he's got something there Finky. Maybe not quite as much but...oh I don't know! haha. It does need a little something tho than to just stop as it meets the body. We will have to leave it to the mind of the Finkmeister...hehe

Yep. Theres some low cut door lines drawn under that tape. I'm not sure I'm going to cut them that way, but theres a good chance I will.
Dave Marek, good to hear from you buddy. I miss seeing your work!

A suggestion. . .. looking at the ridge on the side. . . I would build that out a bit more to overlap the rear tire in a more dramatic way.

Lots more hacking to go. Thanks for all of the input.
I did a bunch of sanding on the roofline, and just about finished reshaping the rear window. I had doorlines drawn out, very low cut, but not sure if I will change that. I like the continued "C" shape as one of you illustrated, but thats going to leave a really thin area in front of the wheel opening that could weaken the body structure. I had originally planned to actually recess hose big ass tires inside the body about 50%, and it may still happen. Right now I'm trying to get the sides of the cab straight and fairly even. I'm an eyeballer, so it ain't perfect yet!!! (probably won't be!) I'm going to take my time on it, work on it as a sideline to the Martian Spider project.

bad ride it needs a motor that's kind of uncommon maybe a chevy inline six or a 421 pontiac with the 6 carb setup.

well, the kit has the flathead in it, which could me dolled-up a bit. I don't know though, I just can't seem to get away from monster horsepower in the showrods....I'm almost thinkin' the motor from the Sand Shark, appropriately detailed.......

OK - That is so incredibly RIGHT ON! One those wish I had thought of that. I like to idea of flowing the C too. Keep 'em coming Tim. I love watching these things take shape. Same for Sooper Dave if he's listening.

OK, I did it! I continued the C-cut along the door sides. It's a bit thin near the rear wheel opening, but good ol' Monogram plastic seems to be rigid enough to withstand! Lot's of smoothing left to go somewhere down the line on this, but I'm likin' the shape of it much better! Thanks for the suggestions!! I have the rear window fairly shaped in, more smoothing to go on the edges......I did some really rough sanding on the rooflines, and it's starting to take shape!

Nice Tim! That cab flows perfect with the "C" now! Just remember not to sand too vigoriously when you are sanding around the rear wheel openings. Once you get the rear interior wall installed, that will beef it up back there. ;D ;D ;D
