Well, in 2 days I'll be blowing out of here for Oahu and hopefully some great surf and snorkeling, cold beer, choclate macadamian nuts, and more tiki junk! LOL. I did a quickie mock-up of my progress so far on the Pie Wagon kitbash, so you can kind of see where it's headed. It's hard to tell in the pics, but there are 3 shades of pearl orange in the inner body/interior! I did a couple with the upper body off, so you could see the construction. Everything is fitting up nice so far. You can see in this shot how I extended the cut out areas on the sides of the body,so the headers will be able to line up with the larger motor. It's really low, just the way I like em'! Maybe I should just leave it this way....Half rat, half custom..... I've been still debating the use of the Richard Carroll tires. I designed the body around using them, but the old MPC large slicks I had in some earlier photo's work well too. I think I still like the exaggerated character of it with the RC tires. I have to cut some metal tubing to finish the rims off with. The back part is MRC's Cragar 5 spokes, which mount from the back. Front tires and rims are from the Boothill Express. Instead of offsetting the spokes, I backed them up and made some true 6 spoke rims! Any opinions on the rear tires? As you can see, the fronts have changed a bit since my original mock-up stages!

I like the stance, it looks a lot better, especially since the rear isn't a mile high in the air, on the original Pie wagon it is.
now I want to get one from the closet to chop, hmmmm

This trip is costing me 550.00 round trip Fred. I have close friend who has a home there, and he's a commercial pilot, so he flies me from Oakland for free as well! (otherwise, we probably would have never been able to do this!) Other than that, food isn't too much different than here, you just have to watch where you go. Luckily, good buddy Ralph knows all the great local spots not to get snookered! Long Board Ale, here I come! ;D

I love the Carrol rears and am anticipating what kind of wheels you'll use. Just for giggles can you foto it with the Big Cragars on the back with those awesome skinnies on the front?

Hey Tim, that's looking GREAT! I personally like the MPC five spoke wheel/tire combo. I know this is blasphemy, but I'm just not a fan of the Richard Carroll tires. Being a machinist for many years, they just look like standard knurling you can perform on any lathe...to mechanical for my taste. Anyway, whichever way you decide to go I'm sure will look fine!

Split those Boothill rims back apart and let them live as the righteous 12 spokes that they were meant to be....
The rest looks good.

Sorry Brandon, they are glued! LOL. Hey, I can't be normal all the time.....(I'm still a Cragar 5-spoke fan at heart anyways.) Thanks guys. I'm looking forward to getting out there, if sh*t would just stop happening here so I can get out of town!~! Too much stress leading up to this......yikes.... I'll be checking in while I'm there!

Enjoy the islands Tim.
I kinda liked the mpc slicks better. Can't tell you why for sure. They seem to tighten the whole thing up.
See you in a week.
Flounder.

Ha! I was thinking the exact same thing! Anytime I see improperly lined-up 12 spokes like that on a contest table, I always figure the dumbass that built 'em just doesn't know any better. Dave Split those Boothill rims back apart and let them live as the righteous 12 spokes that they were meant to be.... The rest looks good.

Good Lord you two.......Thanks for calling me a dumbass Scurv. LOL. I thought it looked kinda' kool. The bad thing with these particular rims, is that they are flat on the backside, instead of rounded, so they look kinda' lame offset anyways! I chose them because of the taller stance, they match the height of the RC tires on the rear. I agree, on the smaller ones, I like them as they are supposed to be. Hmmmmm.......Maybe I'll rethink it some, but then again, maybe not....... ;D Instead of Grail Killer, I can be "Rim Killer".......

LOL! You know we luv ya.... Hey, if you saw me adding a V6 to a kit with a single carb and stock exhaust manifolds, I'd hope you would assist me in getting back to the righteous path. Friends don't let friends build crap.. Remember that. I think they are dead on for size and stance though... now they just look like 6-spoke toy wheels... but it IS your car... I know that. I like "Rim Wrecker." I'd pay money for a set of those front wheels and tires....

That's beautiful Tim, nice work!! The side view in particular looks very sleek. I can't get over how thin that upper body shell is in places, that wouldn't have made it through my heavy-handed sanding, LOL!
My 2 cents on the back tires is they look out of character with the rest of the car. The strange tread pattern doesn't work for me and they look too wide. I greatly prefer the slicks in the earlier photos.
