This kind of thing is EXACTLY why the Titus Brothers and the Kustom Kemps of America provide a high quality overhead tent cover for the Model Kemp Spectacular held in Salina, Kansas, on the last weekend of July every year. We may be outdoors but at least that blazing sun isn't melting the great models on display at the contest! The KC Slammers Model Car Club and the KKOA work hand-in-hand to bring this one-of-a-kind model contest to life for all to enjoy! By the way... check out www.kcslammers.com and go to the KKOA Leadsled page there for info on this year's contest coming up on July 26! Last year your fellow Coffin Corner Brothers - HiZoot, Jerry G., Voodoo, Kruhe67, and me, Ellis were there schmoozin with all the great cars, the famous customizers, and lots of other great folks. There's complete 2007 photo coverage and a video clip of the drag races on the Slammers' website as well over on the Photo Gallery page. It's a great three-day experience surrounded by hundreds of classic Kustoms and Rods. The model contest just keeps growing and getting bigger and better every year! Hope to see everyone on CC2 that can get there at this year's contest! Ellis

Yep, I went to one outdoor contest a long time ago (I didn't enter) I spent most of the day moving buddys cars around out of the sunlight after I noticed that one was starting to change colors on top....lol.

Where was the show? In Death Valley? Geez, it must have been really hot! In Thomas Park in Salina, we also are blessed with 80' tall shade trees covering the park grounds. That probably helps a lot! Ellis

The heat in Salina didn't seem hot at all with all the shade trees and the tents. . . and all the cool music making a nice breeze to keep the air moving. . . I didn't have any problems with the models I brought and I brought alot that first year!

Last year it was in the 90's and no one had a problem with the tents and trees providing ample cover. Now the dust is a different matter.

Dust? In Kansas? In July? Jerry, you must be talkin' about that little touch of "real-world" realism Mother Nature gave to all our models!
Question: What's worse than owning a black vehicle in Kansas? * * * Answer: Owning TWO black vehicles in Kansas! Ha! Ellis
