Yea! Very useful. I used plaster for pulling forms. But, there's aresin that stands up to heat well. Probably better for forming repeatedly. I had just begun to get started with vacuum forming but I could see lots of potential for the type of things I do. I'm going to have to replace mine soon to form a bubble top for my "Rothchild" build. Even a mediocre one will have to get me by. When I go for the "gold", I want to find a square/rectangular element from one of those new style ceramic tops.(If they make them and I can get one.) Did you use a check valve in the plumbing for your vacuum?

Thats why i'm building 1, i've come up with a design that is going to require a special bubble,, mine ,,might be called" HUBBA BUBBA BANDIT"

Hey John, How thick meaning how many thousands can you melt with your VF? I have a old Mattel Vac-u-form that I use. I make Hood Scoops, Fender Skirts, and Windshields. I'm using .30 right now but I would like to bump the thickness up to .50 or .60 for my skirts. I don't think mine will do that though.
Thanks, George

I am not familiar with that apparatus but there are ways you could employ to permit the use of thicker styrene. However, the variables involved would relate to temp you can heat the styrene and how much vacuum you can pull/how much vacuum your unit can stand up to. To get .060, you could pull down one .030 sheet then do one .030 over that and laminate with liquid cement. Depends on how you have your mold set up (male or female).

Not fair! You will have two and I will have none. PM me your addy so I can send you some bucks and styrene to pull down some parts for me. Or, I'll send you plans and you can make me a "spiffy" one similar to yours!
