I know its not a showrod, but a couple of guys on this site helped me out on this restoration ,so I thought I'd show the finished product. This started out as a gluebomb I got off of Ebay. It had no paint, but enough glue on it to build three kits. The windshield alone took over an hour to cut it off of the body ,and the rear pipes were broken and badly fixed . I thought it was just a parts kit , but one day I got industrious and started in on it. The body was covered in glue prints, and the original plastic color couldn't be saved, so I painted it with HOK lime pearl over Testors jade green metallic. You can't see it, but the drivers hair has been drybrushed with a darker brown to make it stand out better. The headlight lenses were shot, and Stan suggested using some lenses off some "googly eyes" that I got from a craft store. Basically this is two kits in one, and many thanks go to Tim Nolan who sent me another Glitterbug, as many of my parts were either broken or missing.

That looks absolutely fantastic!!! What a great job on saving a gluebomb -- you can't tell at all from looking at it!

Don, The GB turned out great! Wow, sounds like it was almost beyond hope when you started with it. Excellent save! I've got one sitting right over the computer staring at me waiting for a resto, but it's a lot cleaner than what you started with. It basically just needs some paint detailing. Unfortunately the exhaust is missing, that'll be fun to fabricate!
Charlie, thanks for thinking of me :-) I've taken a hiatus from building due to other commitments. I let me wife talk me into a pool which turned into a much bigger "back yard beautification" project and that has eaten up a lot of my spare time. Plus work has been crazy this year. I've got a Deal's Wheels Buick GSX project that is ready for paint whenever I can get my "free time" schedule back to normal!

Good luck with that Tres. ;D It takes up a lot of time.

Years ago, I was a lifeguard for the U of A, night shift; I had the wonderful duty of taking care of the chlorine levels. Later, I managed an apartment complex, where again I had the pleasure of taking care of the pool. If I ever want to swim again, I'll go visit somewhere. Charlie's right, it's way too much work to bother with.

LOL Never give up hope Don - mine's (if it shows) from the dreaded evil bay - buried in a lot of 1/32 stuff - I blame Bob (PEGLEG) for me even looking - and thank Alan Alexis for doing the bidding - You guys are the best. It's just a carcass - will have to find more bits but it's a start. Lance

Thats true, you never know. Thats how I got a few of my Deal's kits. The stink ray I got was titled " funny caricature car" and sold for $10.00 , and the Lil Herbie was buried with a bunch of parts, and sold for about the same. Thats the one thing about Ebay thats kind of fun ;when you find something buried that no one else sees and win it !
