Despite all of the other crap going on in the world, our own little world here at the Rally saw a good year overall I think. We didn't have as many contests, not a bad thing, but what went on was really good. The Camperman pulled of his Paddy Contest well!
We saw some incredible builds from the group, posted in the Gallery, the discussion page, and in magazines and books even!! Congratulations to all of those who made those achievements. Tom Graham blessed us (especially me) with the new Monogram history book to add to his list along with the Revell and Aurora books, all of which are great! (I gave away 5 for Christmas). The California contingent kicked some butt on a regular basis at contests. You guys ruled the Scale Auto yearly book! What a load of coverage!
The Rally itself was transformed, and I think it's been great! Not only the new server, but all of the new looks, sub-area's, pictures, avatars, artwork, it goes on and on! We gained some fantastic new members. I don't know where some of you guys came from, but I so glad you are here with us! I'm in awe at the quality and craftsmanship, the ideas are incredible.
God, one of us found Steve Scott! Thank you Alan, your a Saint! Richard Carroll digs us, and hopefully is making us some new tire bucks! (this will be an exclusive for us here!) Tom Daniel, Elden, and Fritz continue to grace us with thier presence!
Don't forget Joe Demicola making the group Richard Carroll tires, literally hundereds of them! One of the rarest model items on the planet, and you got em'! (Oh, and you last few deadbeats know who you are, so do I. Send Joe your money, because your screwing yourself in the long run if you don't!) LOL.
It was a good year for reissues too on many old kits, with more to come! Revell gave us the great new chopper kits, which have truly found a place here as well. Look at some of the great builds RIGHT HERE! Tory did Fritzs Roswell Rod in resin, it's a masterpiece. I know this was probably from last year, but it is definitely worth a mention. If you didn't buy one, you missed out. Rick and Don managed to produce an Uncertain T!! I was blown away with it. I can't wait to start doing something with it too! Dave V. has come up with all of those other laser-cut kits for us too, they are all so good, and what a chance to do some scratch-building!
As usual, and as in life, we lost some relatives and friends in death, and we grieved for each other. There was divorce, hardships, and a few hard feelings. There was new life too, births for many of you of children and grandchildren, it's always good! There were new jobs and careers for many of you, we are happy for your success!
There was charity and goodwill. You came up with almost a grand for Kerry and his family! Bless you Lily! Bless Dan Barten too, the whole auction was his idea, and I was glad to run it for him.
Lot's of parts, kits, and goodwill were sent around the globe. I got more nice surprises from so many of you I can't remember them all. Fred, I got the Christmas car yesterday! Thank you.
Please add to this list, because I know I only scratched the surface. Thanks, friends, for being here. I'm glad I'm here. ;D
Have a cold one with the Beer Girls for me! Happy New Year.
I have a feeling 2007 is going to be one hell of a killer year here...So when's the new contest start?
