I attended the toy show in Columbus, OH this past weekend and this is what I found: It is a 1/32 scale Silhouette!! It is made by ZEE International, Inc. I do not know if the base is the correct one for this car, if so they called it Tornado. Does anyone have anymore information on this car? I have Chaparral race cars made by Zee and in searching I see muscle cars, race cars and choppers. Thanks, Marty

This was a rip-off item by Zee toys. They also did a 1/64 (Hot Wheel size) of several famous showrods including a knockoff Uncertain T and Invader, as well as the Silhouette. There was a large scale Hot Wheels version made called a Gran Toro. Very hard to find item, brings big bucks in good condition. They were very well made Italian pieces. The Zee models were cheepy, but hey, it's kinda' kool! It was an unlicensed item at any rate! I have the Invader still, and I think the Uncertain.

Tim, if you have a knockoff of the Uncertain T I'd really REALLY like to see that. This is the first time I've heard that. The only knock offs of that I remember are the Topper Toys Zoomer Boomer and their Johnny Lightning TNT which is changed slightly. As for the Zee stuff, they did knock off a lot of items. There was another company that did it too. I've seen a couple model kits including a Garbage Truck knocked off. Oh, and the Beatnik Bandit I've seen as well. Some of the Zee bikes were knock offs of Revell bikes. Can't think of anything else off hand but I know there was more.

Yeah, I know it is a cheepy knock-off. Ya gotta love the flower power stickers on it! My first intention when I saw it was to convert it to a slot car, which I want to do to the Chaparral ZEE cars I have. Is this a rare item?
The seller also had a Hot Rod Roadster, but I was running low on cash at the time. Good thing I didn't know about the ATM at the hall!
Does Bill Cushenberry have a web site? When I search for his name I get a LOT of articles, but no web site.
Thanks, Marty

I think that is neato, psychedelic man, flower power...now you should built the 1/25th kit to match the Zee I had a Zee 1/32nd Chaparral 2C that I sold this year. It was okay but I had a few too many Chaparrals and sold off the small scales, the diecasts and the slot bodies. Leave the Zee Silhouette as is. If you find another one, then convert it to a slot car.

After I got it home and looked at it more, I decided that since I have never seen one before, never knew it exsited, I should leave it alone. For now. The chassis is cracked in half so I would not be destroying that part of it. BTW - Does anyone know if ZEE called it the Tornado, or is this the correct base for it? Marty

I have two Zee toys that I got it the early 70's .One is a Silhouette ,and the other looks a lot like the Hot wheels Hot heap. They are about 1/25 scale, and have super wide wheels on them . Theyre kind on beat up now as I played with them, but I'll try to dig them out and get some pictures of them.
