Well, if we are playing by the rules, I think I just forfeited. Timbo and I agreed to keep it low detail. That was actually my suggestion. To quote Dirty Harry - "A man's just got to know his limitations." I just can't not get detail. Now I have working steering through the steering wheel. Also got the side re-cut to match Scribbles rendering. Now to fabricate exhaust. Flounder Hosted on FotkiHosted on Fotki

Hey Rocketeer, The tires are ring sizers. Get four sheets of then and you have one of each size. I got 8 so I could double them up for wider back tires. Thanks for asking. Here is the link to the build if you are interested. public.fotki.com/Scottcolmer/the-timbo-challenge/Flounder

Please tell me that you didn't put the tierods on top of the steering shaft... if you did, you'll notice that the car steers in REVERSE!

LOL . Good job Dave.
I did notice that. I was all impressed with myself until I turned the front wheels and noticed that the steering wheel did exactly what you said it would and went the other way. I was going to move the tie rod arms to the front to fix it. Dang engineering.
Made a header and some turbos today. Well, just made the heat side of the turbos. The kit ones sucked. Fun stuff. Well except for the headers. I hate those.
Wrong Way Flounder.

Well except for the headers. I hate those. Wrong Way Flounder. LOL - it wouldn't have been so apparent to me if I hadn't been spending time engineering kart/soapbox steering systems so often of late. Remember to angle the steering arms OUTWARD if they're in front of the kingpins. On a car with such limited steering, it probably wouldn't matter, but proper ackerman can be achieved by setting up the steering arms so that, when seen from above, a line drawn from the outer tie-rod end/knuckle through the kingpin centerline intersects the rear axle at the car's centerline. I know you probably are well acquainted with this rule of thumb, but I thought it might help some others. BTW - for those who have no idea what I'm talking about, ACKERMAN allows the inside wheel to follow a tighter circle in a corner than the outside wheel, reducing drag and the car's tendency to understeer, or lose traction in the front wheels in a corner.

Better turbos. The kit exhaust turbine is in the foreground. At least one header. Need one more header and collectors. Heat wrap coming up thanks to a tip from a couple Klowns. Hosted on Fotki
