Hello, This will be my first post here, but I've been lurking for some time. Steve Hammann steered me here long ago... Anyway, I can't for the life of me remember who made this kit (Maybe Pyro), or what it was called, but I can describe it in some detail. It was a cartoon looking Corvette or Corvette like design and may have been related to Uniroyal Tires somehow. It was molded in red and had extra parts that could make it look very much like the car in the old Tiger Paw commercials, it had a tail, and 'feet' with claws that could be added to the tires, which were distorted and also molded in red. I'm thinking it may have had teeth too. I'm pretty sure it had chrome plated parts as well. This would have been a mid to later 60's kitand it was on the large side compaired with 1/25 scale stuff. Is this ringing any bells or bumping an old brain cell from slumber? It's really starting to bug me as i don't even know what it was called, but I'd built two of them when I was a kid! Anyone?

It's a Revell kit but now I'm drawing a blank on what the name is. It came out about the same time that the Wackie Woodie came out. I'll have to see if I can remember what it was. I've seen them a few times on eBay.

My-KEEE! Hey buddy, great to hear from you. Got your PM, I'll email you when I have more time. Meanwhile, a little introduction. I don't even remember how we met, but Mike and I have been friends for maybe 20 years now. Haven't seen him for a few due to life getting in the way as it has want to do, but Mike is as friendly and open a guy as you'd ever want to meet. A graphic artist by trade one creative son -O- gun too. Mike, do you still have the GTO on steroids? members.aol.com/thebonnevil/bonnevil1.html

AMT. A guy modified one into a Gran Sport caricature a while back, appeared at some of the east coast shows; and there was a buildup feature on line somewhere.

Way to go Rocketeer! Man I was drawing a blank and I did try to do some searching. That modified one was the first thing I thought of but couldn't remember if I had shots of it or not. I've seen it twice in person. I'm glad you were able to pull it out though. It was kind of driving me nuts.
And Mike, I wondered if that was you. It's been awhile since we chatted. As soon as Steve posted the Bonnevil I remembered. Do you still have all those Hot Birds planes? Man that was a nice collection.

Hey Steve! Nope, saddly, the BonnEvil went West almost three years ago now (And yes, we miss it!). North West to be more precise, Great Falls Montana to be exact. Bet it hasn't had a hundred miles put on it since ether. A guy with a metric ton of money bought it and it's just part of a big stable that includes Diablo's and other super cars along with a de-militerized F-14 and a Russian Mig... That's when you have money, when you can own the 'Cold War" collection! I have a 1:1 scale model in my garage now, a strech Cobra kit car that I may or may not get around to, It's for sale as well as long as I get what I have in it out, other wise, I'll be building it sometime. I'll have to submit some pic's to the gallery as soon as I can take some decent pictures! A Revell kit? You know what, that and the "Wacky Woodie" made a brain cell or two perk up, was the Woodie of similer design and molded in tan by chance? Yes, that GS is the Body! I still have some Hot Birds, but the body of my loose complete collection has been desimated to raise money in the care of my two boys who are both autistic... But I do still have a bunch, and most of my blisterpacked ones.

Very cool Mike, glad to see you are still doing some building.
As for the Wackie Woodie and the Va Va Vette. Yes, they were AMT kits and the Woodie was molded in tan with some chrome plated parts. It's actually a very cool build when done up. They were both in a series called "Krazy Kustoms" but I think they may have been the only two kits.
I understand on the Hot Birds. I've known a few people who have sacrificed various collections to care for a loved one. The stuff we collect is replaceable, family isn't.
Thanks for sharing Mike and we'll look forward to seeing more from you. A.J.

Here's a quick pic (It's a scan of an old picture) of one of my favorite classic ShowRods that I built for box stock class in the late 80's... It was/is a candy purple with blue fogging around the edges, the only deviation from box stock was some purple flocking to keep that great 60's flavor! For some reason, it's paint has faded something awful over the years, now it's an odd tu-tone, darker on one side than the other...

You're right Mike, I haven't seen that one. Still have it? I can see the Turkster cruising in it. Very CQQL build. Gotta cut it short, I'm at work (supposedly). Just so you guys know, Mike is the one on the left with the Tim Nolan-esque look. We gotta get a good close up of you two guys for comparison, I always thought you kinda looked alike.

Well, truth be told, I never "owned" it... I built it for the National Tattoo Association a few years ago. I showed them this drawing, They sent me a bunch of money. A year later, I sent them what you see. Now that's the way to do it, get paid to build someone elses car! Plus we had all the fun of designing, building and driving it (Got to work the "bugs" out you know!) What you see in the picture is the car shortly before it shipped to the NTA in Allentown Penn. It couldn't be driven with the roof on, but it looked so cool with it! You had plenty of head room, you just couldn't see out of the thing beyond about 5 feet in front of the wheels. The roof opens clamshell style. Once open, it could be popped off real easy, so that's how it was driven, and what a bucket of fun it was too. Powered by a 5.0 Mustang motor with an AOD and 3:00 gears, 4 wheel disk brakes and Silvertown radials, I called it a "Rat-Mod". Classic looks with modern safety, and about the same power to weight ratio as a Viper! The other two guys are Wayne Maple and JD Rider, they helped me put it together and JD set up the whole deal. I only made a couple grand on it, but I now know a Total Performance T-Bucket kit, inside out and could build another for a lot less. I guess it's better to spend too much of someone elses money rather than your own... A couple of classic "60's" custom touches it has, the radiator cap has a working tattoo machine mounted on it and works when the horn is blown. All the hard metal parts were powded coated day glo green. with the body, roof and radiator shell done in satin black. It has a hardwood bed with National Tattoo logo adorned stake sides. I created the fiberglass skull aircleaner cover and it was signed by all the attending artists at the 2003 National Convention in St. Louis. The Moon tank is in fact the puke tank for the radiator, so it's not just something cool sitting there. It has an 8 Ball shifter knob on top of a 24" shifter and the flames on the side match the flamed steering wheel. See it all here: members.aol.com/TattooTbucket/TattooT.html
