When does it stop being a "Toy"...?

...And start being a model? This is a Hot Wheels 1/18th scale VW Drag Bus that I took completely apart, stripped, repainted and detailed well beyond the "out of the box toy". So, is it a model, a detailed toy, some freakish abomination to both... Or just something cool? Discuss among yourselves!











Details include all plug and electrical wires, braided & bent hard fuel lines, "Surfer Foot" gas pedal, brake lines and seat belts with photoetched hardware. Paint is Duplicolor shade-shifter "Gold/magenta" over black, except the Hot Wheels flame which was shot in silver over the black before the shade shifter color coat. Whew. So it's a sort of 'ghost' flame.

I don't care WHAT you call it Mike, it's cool and if you had fun doing it that's all that matters. I've been meaning to hook up with you but I am still swam-ped with work and life. The Mother-in-law just passed away and although she was pretty good as M-I-L's go and I dig my wife about as much as one man can, it's still one more thing to add to the list. I'll bend your ear one of these days though.

I was trying to talk Elden to bring in the hotwheel customizers at Salina. . . I think you have a place in customs. . . just a smaller scale!
