I may be missing something, but why would you blend a metal panel into a wood panel? As two very different materials, shouldn't there be a definite dividing line between the two? Molecular bonders not withstanding, seems like they should be completely seperate.

Dean,
I'm not exactly sure where you are with this BUT you mentioned that "you'll have to repaint the body." Yes you will..! Forget the fact that Scurvy & John have a good point. You see that photo with the cracks in it..? Ask why you think it's there in the 1st place..?
Give up , it's because those materials (whatever they are) are rejecting each other. You want to be filling & bonding but I'll bet you dollars to donuts that the paint is a big part of that cracking. In short & simple terms, you painted the body too soon Dean.
I've seen this kinda thing from you before & if you've noticed, I'm constantly asking you to take your time... The reason for that is the short cuts you take. Not to be nagging at you or take away your fun but wouldn't you rather swear by your models instead of at them..?
So you made a mistake, let's fix it by removing ALL the paint & putty. However you want is fine , purple lake or EZ Lift or oven cleaner, whatever floats your boat..! This will give you a better start & finish for that matter.Hizoot

I am really enjoying watching the "evolutions" of this build. I have to agree on the division of material thing. Would a thin Evergreen rod between the two represent a break or gasket if you will? {like Ive seen in vintage coaches..} Man this one has got Me hooked DONT give up!! {Its CREAMING mine swap build!!}

yea Dave I agree ...I messed up from the start when attaching the fender, but is a matter of not how bad you screw it up but how good can you fix it now... as far as the paint cracking alittle, thats just the putty drying under the white primer , it'l sand out ok..I liked that idea of making the box end of it straight without the wood panels ...thanks for the input guys!...
