I have only seen one Tognotti T built, and that is Chuck's, I have seen two Wild Dreams done, and both have been very nice, I have always liked these two cars as well....Thanks for sharing guys!!!

Nice builds!!
Since it is an AMT kit, may it can be repopped?!?
Does anyone know if the Wild One was actually street driven? I would think the slicks on the front would make for some krazy steering!

Marty I see now from your photos that the front slicks have been grooved .. these little builders are really fragile so I think I'll leave them the way they are ...lol... Starry

Ok, since somebody brought up the question about a repop I'll have to enter into the conversation here. These weren't only produced by AMT. They were produced as individual kits by MPC as well under their alternate names which is Wilhelm's Wonder and Tognotti's T. I've always wondered myself which ones came first, the AMT or the MPC. AMT never issued them seperately to my knowledge and MPC never released them together as AMT did. However it worked out, one of them produced the kits and the other company ended up with them. Does anyone have any information on the releases of these? The MPC box is from the '67 style I believe but I don't know when the AMT would have been dated.

Marty Grooved or not, those were not made to do anything else except give straight line traction. The sidewalls are different then tires made for steering. Plus the square edges I would think can cause problems trying to turn them. Even though that is one of the koolest cars ever, that has always gnawed at me. MOO Marty I see now from your photos that the front slicks have been grooved .. these little builders are really fragile so I think I'll leave them the way they are ...lol...

AMT never issued them separately to my knowledge and MPC never released them together as AMT did. However it worked out, one of them produced the kits and the other company ended up with them. Does anyone have any information on the releases of these? The MPC box is from the '67 style I believe but I don't know when the AMT would have been dated. Well AJ, I don't know a lot of factual stuff about these kits, other than they were done in the early sixties as the double kit, and released in an AMT box proclaiming them as Grand National Winners. There is also some wording under the pictures that states "Now on tour with promotions Inc. Which I think was/is a Don Tognotti venture. Then as you said later released separately by MPC with their perspective new names. When you look at the kits, they are most definitely MPC kits (old modelers can tell these things) and they also went on using the chassis, and other body parts to do other various MPC kits over the years. I also have in my collection a 1970 Olds Toronado in an AMT box, but the kit looks to be a JoHan molded kit rather than AMT. Kinda makes one wonder what really went on behind the scenes!!! From what I can gather, the double kit is from 1963/4, and here is a pic of the box top.

Thanks for the additional info. It's very interesting for sure. I didn't look over all the boxes but I do have them.
As for the Toronado, I know what you mean. AMT and Johan definitely had some cross over kits. I'm not sure which or how many but I do know that both did the '69 and '70 Olds with the funny car option. Possibly '71 and '72 as well but I'm not sure about those. There are others too but I can't think of them off the top of my head at the moment.
