The Fire Iron is one of my favorite TD's as well, and yes those kit decals were brutal. I was lucky enough to acquire a re pro set that worked out excellent on mine, back when Decal Digs was still around. Gerry G

Really nice clean build. These kits just build up so nice right out of the box. One of the nicest I've ever seen. Good job.

Finially got mine in today! Had to open and massage it some! HEHEHEhe. Smells good too! Closer her back up to build another time when I can devote myself to it and do it properly. Jody

Nope...It's straight 'RED' tint, from my mixing bench, then cleared with PpG's 890...

Great build, a real Fire Truck sheen on that beauty. What a cool kit. A lot of super nice detail there, well done.

Looks great! Love the color of the ladders. Quite realistic. If you put the decals on top of your clearcoat you may be able to remove them. If you can find Hi-Res scanned replacements on new decal paper you could just re-apply. If you decaled before your clearcoat they may have looked worse! I know from experiance! My Fire Iron that I built has the original decals under the clear and they look bad. Little silver spots and yellow/brown blotches from old decal adhesive! I didn't notice untill after I cleared! Must have been half asleep that night! I will have to strip mine to fix it!
Great build, Looks awsome!

I'd rather have no decals on the hood ( the gold pinstriping can stay), but how would one go about removing the decals.? I tried soaking them off once before, with no luck ! Even tried soaking them with decal solution....again no luck. I suppose on this build, I could try and wet~sand em off, then polish Any suggestions ? ~ Dean ~

I have had luck removing old decals with scotch tape. Burnish it down on top of the decal you want to remove and gently pull up the tape. It may take a few tries to get the entire decal off but be patient. One bit of caution though..there is a chance you may pull up your gloss coat as well depending on what you used. In my own experiance I have had good luck with this but indeed there have been a few times my gloss coat came up the decals as well. I ended up having to strip that pannel and repaint!
Good Luck!
