Yeah, I've seen that one before as well as a couple other rip offs of TD's designs. There was a Tijuana Taxi style battery operated tin toy as well as a plastic Dragon Wagon styled remote control version. The remote was one of those old early 70's plastic that took 2 large batteries with a wire going to the car. Zee toys definitely ripped off a few of TD's designs but there are plenty of other rip offs out there as well.

Here are the remains of a ZeeToy 1/25 friction powered T'rantula and a Chinese 1/64 knock off, both from the early 70's. Shame TD didn't receive any payment for his design or a royalty of some kind. These, and the other TD rip offs sold in their hundreds of thousands in the 70's. Cheers,PJ

I have a plastic Silhouette that I got as a kid with tires that look like they were for a Deal's wheels kit . It was put out by Gay toys (insert joke here) in the early 1970's . I also found a plastic friction VW bug thats nearly a perfect scale copy of the Deal's wheels Bug Out. I've seen a bunch of Zee stuff thats ripped off showrod builders designs,I guess stealing designs was no problem in Japan back then !
