And why not?
I was on another 1:1 board and this guy said that he hasn't built a model in over 15 years but still reads the magazines and stuff. I know he is not alone! I know that the hobby has sky-rocketed in technology and expectations and many have simply given up.
I also know that EVERY ONE HERE began throwing models together on a Saturday afternoon. No paint, no wires, no nothing but a steak knife, your mom's nail file and a tube of Testors Red.
I've seen the sheer joy of a few recent "kid mode" builds around here.....
I also know that most of you are sitting on a tremendous amount of models.. or have doubles and triples of "one day" kits... or at the very least have a Plymouth Prowler model somebody gave you as a present that you have no intentions of building with a serious effort.
I think it's time to sacrifice one from the herd...
Let's dig out a kit, build it in an afternoon, and use nothing but glue and cutting utensils.. MAYBE swap the wheels if it's a bone-stocker kit.
The Box Stock Stash Burner.
Any kit, ANY KIT. Plane, boat, car, rig.... monster....
Grab something cool or funny, or the crappiest kit you got and thrash it together in an afternoon. Build a couple. No prizes but it would be fun to see what kooky kits or rare ones you can build. If anything you can rip it apart later for parts.
Deadline... I don't know.. this weekend? Next weekend?
The objective is to be quick. Don't think. Don't fret. Don't worry. JUST DO IT. If you haven't built anything in a while, or ever.... now is an excellent chance to participate without any pressure what-so-ever. Get yourself in gear and go!
If you do not have a way to post pictures, contact me and I will help.

Jody Okay.... how about... you can paint it, but it has to be done in THAT afternoon, and in a Testors stock color from the small bottle and it has to be with a crappy brush.... AFTER you build it with before and after pictures... Cruddy color nothing, that's what the decals are for. Relax already.... Box Stock Stash Burner. Don't be skeert....

Well, if showing you a build that I completed is all it would take to have you fall out of your chair, I can make that happen...LOL! I'll just show you a pic of the T'Rantula I build about 7 or 8 years ago which is also about the only one I've been able to complete...ha ha! Why, because I was showing my nephew who was just starting to build some things. It was a quickie build but nicely done. Too bad he didn't stick with it, our build nights were working very well. I was able to get stuff done. But we'll see if we can suprise ya a bit Brandon. Don't get too worked up though...ha ha! It won't be much.

I read this and then tripped on out to the garage to see what would happen. I CAN'T DO IT, MAN! There are a lot of kits out there, but none shouted "glue me, glue me." Sorry gents, I'll have to stick to making tiny little bits that can barely be seen. But, I will say this. In my display case is a unpainted Roarin' Rail. It not much to look at, but it's there because it was the first model I built after a really rough spell in my life that left pretty unmotiovated. It took all of 30 minutes and I think I actually twisted the parts of the tree kiddie style. It got me going again. Give Brandon's contest a try. You will be glad you did. Flounder

Well, sounds all fun and everything. I have never brushed paint. It has always been rattlers since my very first model as a young teeneager. This One I have, will be slapped together in one day and spray painted, but I guess I wont be able to enter it though. But I certainly will look forward t seeing what you all do with yours! Jody

When do we post the pix by? Let's do it by this Sunday... I'll start a thread on Friday. How about.... round one this Sunday, round two next Sunday. Give people a chance to see what others have done and maybe get some inspiration to go pull a kit out and slap it together... and yes, you can enter both weeks or build as many as you like.

Cool idea, I think I still have a couple of that kind of build in my parents basement ,where they've been since the early 70's . I'll have to dig to see if I have anything new to build like that .
