The idea is to grab a kit and build it in an afternoon, right out of the box, no painting or detailing. Like you would have back when you were a kid. No worries, no stress, just thrash and build. I chose an AMT '71 Dodge Charger that I had. It's been kicking around my stash for a while, and I honestly had no intentions of building it. It came stone-stock with out any options or bash worthy Hemi. I will say, that it is a fantastically detailed kit that went together well. If building a stock car is your goal, this would be a nice one. I also built it with a fat old tube of Testors, an X-acto knife and a pair of snips. Total build time: 1 hour and two Negra Modelos. ;D I did swap the wheels with some mags... I can't leave anything alone.

I am in a Mopar mood as well, I will be building the Yankee Challenger. It's been sitting on my shelf for years...my son was going to build it but he decided not to. I didn't know the rules included beer. ;D No paint, just glue and brew!!!

This was such a great idea. Thank you for the inspiration. Here's what I started with early this afternoon: This kit sure was fiddly, but several hours later and: Can't wait to see more entries! -Dean

Well, I've had this one unbuilt forever. I built this within an hour this afternoon and my golly the decals worked just fine. This is an older kit that had copyright 1976 on the back of the decal sheet. This was a blast to do!

This is the first STATIC model I have built in many years! Most of my model building has been hard body(model kit) slot car racing. I haven't built any for that in a couple years either! To build this I had to dig an X-Acto knife out of my race case because all my hobby stuff is in boxes in the garage. I have no idea where my tools, supplies, or even paint are at. so I found the box this was in, put my headphones on listening to "Sounds of the Weird-Ohs" (which we all know is music to build models by) and had at it. Anyway, Pro-Finish Mad Magazine F/C: I had a ball! Marty

Here's my Kid mode build, this was a lot of fun Brandon, glad you suggested it. Started on it last night at 6:53pm Est. finished it up about 4:30 today. All color applied with Sharpie markers, tried to use all the decals like a normal kid would do too.
As you will notice I did not use any instructions.

AMT "Snap Fast Plus" Dodge Copperhead. Had this sitting around for a couple of years, got it dirt cheap at a model club meeting, never knew what to do with it. Came molded in a nice glossy copper color so not much painting was needed. Put a half hour in Friday painting the detail, and another half hour today assembling it. Great idea Brandon, it was fun just slapping something together quickly without a lot of fuss.

Here's my entry - the Yankee Challenger. This was my son's but it stayed on the shelf foyears. He gave me the OK to slap it together. Total time 1 hour and 17 minutes. I used an Xacto knife I've had for about forty years, I put in a dull blade for old times sake (and broke it of course). It took me a glass and a half of 2001 vintage Tempranillo wine to complete. I swapped out the rear tires, that was the only changes made. It was fun to go back to the simple ways..... Dave

I didn't have any batteries for my camera. The car is built, but I am trying to finish the paint. I used Testors red glue for assembly. I used Testors gold paint from the bottle and a Testors brush. I also used a toothpick to paint some silver interior details.
I must say this was harder than I realized. I kept wanting to use sandpaper and putty and all other manner of tools on this build. I had to pretend I was 10 sitting at the kitchen table on a rainy Saturday.
I'll shoot some pics tonight.

Bobby, I looked at those little "Slammer" kits at a local hobby shop awhile back and passed, but your versions turned out pretty good, I might have to rethink that. Gerry G

Thank you, Gerry! Absolutely, I think, just with a little more color you could get from these kits more better results. Or very well be used as a base for kitbash- projects! ;D
