I walk thru the dollar stores whenever I am in that area and look for ideas for models. I found these pieces and thought I would make an alien hot rod due to the bubble and shape of the body. This is a night light with the Lion King theme. The markers would make good thrusters. I removed the light component and cut out the bottom for access. Then I decided to add the rear end of the Predicta due to the fact that the space ship looked like a '50's style. The rear and wings of the Predicta looked like it would fit in well. (the barrels are in there to hold up the bubble) The thrusters would mount under and mold into the body. I also cut off the front end of the Predicta and narrowed it and added it as the front end of the ship. Then I added front horizontal fins to give it more of a spacey look. I used the interior seat from the Cherry Bomb, it looked like a perfect fit for the Alien Hot Rod. I also added sheet styrene to the seat. If you Klowns like this, I will be updating the progress. It never ceases to amaze me the talent of the people on this site to come up with a thing of beauty like this practically out of nothing. It only goes to show that everything in out every day life is possible materials we could use for a scratch built. Great idea, great job !!!

Okay, now I need to finish my Jetsons-themed decal sheet for real - I needed to do Spacely Sprockets and Cogswell Cogs contingency decals and a Judy Jetson pinup for the trunklid. You want me to print two sheets?

Thanks for all your very nice comments! I was blown away with some of them.
Scurvy - I realize that this has that whimsical theme of the Jetsons and I thank you kindly for your offer but I have something else in mind.
When I finish this it will be the first part of a two part model I have been planning.
I have been working on the interior and plan on posting progress soon.

I did some work on the interior. I took this Corvette dashboard and cut off the curved ends and installed the monitor screen from the Predicta in between and added styrene on the top. I will mount this on a post in the interior. Next I made some diamond pleat covering for the interior. I started with a styrofoam plate I got from a dollar store and cut out the flat bottom. Then using a ruler I made marks at a distance that I would like the diamond size. Then using the dull side of the blade I lightly scored the styrofoam along the ruler and marks for this pattern. The hard part was cutting it to fit the interior shape, like this. And after making the side floor panels I dry fitted it to the body. When the time comes to glue it in place I will use some Elmers glue, regular model glue will melt the styrofoam. Using the cut off pieces I tested paint colors. CAUTION: If you try this only use ACRYLIC WATER BASED paint!!!! All other types of lacquer/oil/shellac bases will melt the styrofoam!!!!! Although I am not sure what color I will paint the body, I kind of like the blue for the diamond pleat. I may paint the seat a leathery black......Of course I am open for any suggestions for colors...... I thank you for looking and I hope you like it so far. Next: The wrap around instrument panel. Dave
