If he gets a good lawyer, since KBB is worthless for classic cars, he might be able to get classic car value, wich is still far lower then what he has in it I bet. Unless ha has by the off chance, had it apraised and has all documentation to go with it! Jody

The Reality is, They ruined this mans car, and it was shown in the news. I'm thinking with the publicity included, they have an obligation to re-pay him correctly for what he has lost.
I know if it were my car that got ruined, I would'nt let an ins. adjuster talk me into KBB value !! I would pick-up the little insurance guy, and throw him on his head !! Perhaps, $40,000 is a little on the high side. He should get fair-market value at least.

Hopefully, the guy has classic/collector car insurance on it. It's pretty cheap compared to regular insurance. They'd pay whatever it was insured for and then they would go after the Fire Departments insurance for reimbursement.

Al, that was what I got off of the NADA Classic Car value online for a 1969 firebird with 4bbl 350 in my zip wich is NY since I did not know what thier zip was. Yous, using my zip, but a 1990 because for some reason they are not showing a 91? shows a low book of $2,700 fair book $4,975* and high book $5,575 Jody

Thanks- Jody, for looking up that info. Funny thing, I,ve actually been thinking about selling it lately. I was thinking around $4700, It has many, many brand new parts, and is always garaged. '91 Firebird Formula 305/tpi - 700R4 auto - "fully loaded" T-Tops, "GTA" wheels, etc.
I hope that they compensate that man correctly for the loss of his sweetheart bird. And yes of course, glad to see that no one was hurt.

Ah, I did not know yours was a formula, that may change things some. Google NADA or other Classic car values. Yours may worth a tad more being a formula?? Jody

I checked nada, according to them, $4500 retail vaue, clean & nice. I've got a few extra's into it also, so bump that to $4700 which is just about what I was thinking I would want out of it. Thanks Jody-

no prob! I bought my van a year ago for $3,000. According to the books, its worth $4,000 this year and I have put 13,000 miles on it, so I must have done good buying it! The bad part is though, the problem is, thats New York value, because thats where I live, but the van was a TN van all of its life and it would be worth more if I sold it there! LOL. Jody
